I noticed that the update 1.04 for Waterloo contains a lot of new features like that Infantry can melee attack mounted Cavalry in Obstructed terrain. Has anyone tried the option for Dragoons to dismount ? It doesn't seem to work when I try it in a testgame. Also I can't figure out how the indirect fire option works. I saw the option to make abatis/trenches only in the scenario editor. You probably can't create abatis/trenches during a battle but they have to be there at the start of the game. Perhaps some of the new options only work when you create new scenario's and won't work for the existing scenario's but I am not sure. |

Marco you are generally correct. You can melee with inf vs cav if the cav are in cover. A great feature from the later titles. Cavalry must have the unit title 'dragoons' to get the dragoon capabilities much like 'lancers'. This is even if the units organisations says they are dragoons Indirect fire will work is the unit has an (I) assigned to it when you select and right click I would suspect this will need to be added to the howitzers the allieds have. The other features must be added to the scenarios in the editor I am pretty sure. Someone with intimate knowledge may wish to post on that. Salute! |

Basically it's an engine change. So features like howitzers and dismounted dragoons would have to mean changing actual files, something that was not done to my knowledge. Except for Rich Whites Company Level games. And abattis is something for scenario designers. For howitzers simply point at a hex and fire, it doesn't have to be in LoS, and it'll either hit something or it won't. |
