Guys, I usually prefer the lesser known battles and Campaigns in any War. For example, the African Front in WWI, The battles out West in the American Civil War e.g. The Battle of Valverde & Ozarks. The Crimean War etc...Relating to Waterloo, this is or now was, the last game I had any interest in, simply due to Super popularity. Like I mentioned above, I prefer lesser known battles. But now, alas, I have acquired Waterloo and would like some suggestion(s) on a small to medium scenario(s) from the game that are evenly balanced and are fun to play, since I have yet to play it. Any and all suggestions are appreciated!! Happy New Year!!! |

Soleilmont. French are on the attack and the Prussians are defending/withdrawing. A few different variations on Allied reinforcements so choose wisely. A favorite training scenario for new officers. |

I also like the Quatre Bras scenario, Gary. Waterloo-Wavre works pretty well also, but I usually play that as a 3 or 4 MP game. The Anglo-Allied player will have the toughest job here, the Prussian player probably the easiest. Waterloo itself is a very tough scenario for the Anglo-Allied player. Mons is decidedly pro-French due to a lack of combined arms for the Anglo-Allied player, and the fact that the French infantry is Young Guard. Plancenoit may be OK. I played it once and won as the Prussians, but I don't really remember how balanced it actually was. French Guard against Prussian Landwehr, but the Prussians do have a numerical advantage. I really don't have a lot of experience with tons of different scenarios. So many scenarios, so little time. |
