Post subject:  Historical truth in the Napoleonic Wars maps: Hainau

Gentlemen,

I just saw the map of the game NB Bautzen: Hainau!

City (or Town, better) Chojnów (Hainau) is presented as a conglomeration of three fields (boxes), for a single building hexes :!: :?:

As you can see Chojnów looked just in literature, on the web or on your eyes, I see almost every day, I'm about 25 kilometers from home, a quiet half-hour drive.

My wife's hometown

Of course, I do not want to offend anyone and nothing to force anyone, but sometimes it is worth while ... well what do you suggest?

For comparison, look at the map Złotoryja (Goldberg) with NB Bautzen.

A large number of hexes, walls and gates!

The same historical era!

The same scale of game!

Why do I write?

Due to the historical truth, so I know I was not then, but I see ...

Shortly buy NB Bautzen, then I will explain more!

Old Town in Chojnów( Hainau)
Market

Chojnów (Hainau) market (with town hall) is a rare example of an irregular Silesia square resulting from the extension of the main trade route. Shaped like a stretched triangle with dimensions of 60m x 300 m (one of the longest in Silesia), whose sharp (east) end is the church Peter and Paul, dominating the square.

Population of the town Chojnów (Hainau)

For example:

1801/2314
1805/2444
1807/2306
1813/2152

Interesting. But the shape of the town is irrelevant to the scenario really. And the town hexes are merely a graphic representation of buildings, not in any way designed to simulate the real towns -or we would have a fascinating game in the battle of Paris

The historical scenario itself is no fun at all for the French and I doubt even the great marshalls could avoid a major defeat there. The variant is more challenging - shape of town notwithstanding.

Thanks for the reply Andy.

In total, yes ... fun or historicity.

But you can do both!

Great comparison.

The countryside town in the East and the great metropolis in the West!

But I think it is important everything, almost everything ... terminology places, rivers, gates, forest, walls, regiments, units, their size, their area, their coverage, quality, quantity, saturation ... sometimes lonely farm at Waterloo decided the fate of the battle. In Chojnów (Hainau) during Hussite invasion in 1428 AD survived only 15 citizens in the great church, who closed there (in tower)! The rest was beheaded!!!

Look at map and see the size of the city in relation to the area surrounding the other cities.
