Greetings, New to this new fangled computer wargaming. Over 30 years ago I played with real paper maps and cardboard counters. Since then have effectively been in retirement. One thing I have learned during training is how the computer that was supposed to make things easier has in fact made the whole thing a lot more complicated! My trainer, Field Marshall Andrew Moss slaughtered me, but I have learned a lot. So much so that I realise I still have a lot to learn. Another thing that I have learned it that the AI is not a challenging opponent. |

Bon ju mon ami try beating the computer with just one Korps and not the whole Armee pick any game play twenty turns if you come out a winner then you will see that the AI is more the a match. As for Andy he is the top dog in these games pick someone in OB who is in your league. Or go after them French peacocks!

Trained by FM Moss, eh? And a Hanoverian officer to boot. By Heaven those poor French Menschen haven't a chance.    Ah yes, I remember the good Field Marshall's gentle ministrations. How he gently placed his arm around my neck as we walked around the battle map, all the while filling by head with tactical doctrines. Then suddenly, and with conviction, he slammed my face down onto the wooden map table, breaking my nose and rendering me nearly unconscious from the pain. I still remember what he asked me as I was lying on the classroom floor amid the growing pool of blood issuing from my broken nose. “Did that hurt, Cadet” asked he. “You are damn right that hurt……sir”, I replied. “Good”, he said as he offered a towel to staunch the flow, and his hand to help me rise. “Now I will teach you how to never let anyone do that to you again.” Welcome to the mighty Anglo-Allied Army, Ensign Barrett! Very glad to see yet another graduate from the Andy Moss School of Tough Love. Remember, that which does not kill you, only serves to make you stronger. A toast to your good health, sir, and the many inevitable victories to follow.

Salute! Welcome to the club, sir! Ah, the memories you invoke of paper maps and cardboard chit counters. Those were the days indeed. As for your rough handling by Field Marshal Moss, I have always been of the opinion, that one of the very best ways to improve one's skills in the art of war upon the battle maps, is by playing with the best.  I have done that myself, and have the scars to show for it, and the steady improvement in my play, I hope. Regards, |

Welcome, sir. With Andy as your trainer, great things are expected of you, but even with the lessons learned, you will never truly recover from your most grievous error.... failing to join la Grande Armee. I believe the drinks on on your tab tonight, and I hate to let any new Allied officer escape with their credit intact. Helga, the usual, and make it a double.

And again welcome, Sir. After the official welcome in the commanders tent it is a pleasure to meet you here in the tavern. As I see who have already met some nice company here and even some French are here to have a drink and welcome you. Ah, and the stories of of old-school-teaching, even getting a bloody nose. Dont believe a word of it. Too much of a story. It is some kind of metaphoric bloody nose. But I can asure you, we all got a bloody nose again and again when being out in the field for our first battles. And some still get - me too, as I have to admit. But enough of that. Lets have a drink. As it is cold outside, so enjoy the warm beer here inside. A beating to the French and a toast to the King! Hurray! |

Sir, My counselor says that it was Mr Moss who caused all of the tension and feeling of hopelessness in my gaming life. With liberal use of liquid refreshment, he said I may recover. Good luck and welcome! |
