Hi Gents, Just wanted to mention that I am working on adapting the H&R methodology to the Battle of Leipzig. Looking forward to fighting a Battle of the Nations where the casualty count isn't 80,000 in the first morning of the 4-day battle! It is actually taken a lot of time to do it, particularly the OOB file. Anyway, if I had any questions on how to handle some of the details, who might I contact? Also, would anybody be interested in reviewing my files and scenario when I complete it? Talk soon, Tim |

I've finally finished my first draft of the H&R Leipzig battle! The new package includes separate SCN, OOB and PDT files that work together. If you are interested, I can send you these files along with the link to the H&R website, which contains the general documentation and methodologies put together by the H&R team which outlines the changes to the original games. I am very keen to test drive it. Who wants to try it with me? I want to test drive 2 games for myself personally, one as the Allied player and another as French player. Let me know if you are interested at tcavallin@rgare.com and then I can email you these 3 files (which you would simply download to your Leipzig directory... and they won't impact any of your other files or games), and we can get started. This promises to be a whole new experience (whether good or bad, only time will tell!) in these battles. I am guessing that casualty counts will be much lower and realistic, game pacing will be slower (i.e. more realistic), units will not stand for anywhere near as much punishment as we currently inflict on them, manouvre and firing lines will dominate more than meleeing, etc etc. Look forward to hearing from you. And I always appreciate people's feedback and constructive criticism so that we can continue to make improvements to the games, and provide different flavours, etc. Cheers, |

Salut! I admire your job, I've seen in the Leipzig MOD. I think some of your ideas it's worth of real coin ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I havn't seen yet your recent work, but I except something really good. My first note for you it's about Polish cavalry regiment - all, not only lancers, but all participating in battle during October were already armed with lances. It's not quite common knowledge, due to fact that most of the original archives of VIII C and others Polish regiments, except Guard, are in polish and only some of these papers are available in digital form. Could you send me these files. I suggest also to treat your post as topic for discussion. Many opinions from others can give solid base for gaining worthy pieces of information. Regards P.S. Fortunately for us, we got you on our side. It might be painful to face you in battle as one of the commanders of the dark side. I wonder how long does it take Mark to reply for this. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Thank you so much for your comments Adam. And that is very interesting information you provide regarding the Polish cavalry... I had no idea about that! I agree with you that this thread would be useful for interested people to provide their comments & constructive criticism, input, knowledge, opinions, etc. I do not take credit for this... I give all the credit to the fine gentlemen at H&R who really laid out all the groundwork. I just adapted their work to my favorite battle! I tried attaching the OOB, SCN and PDT files to this thread, so that people could easily check them out, but it did not accept these file extensions. At the very least, here is a link to the H&R documentation that my work was based on: http://www.nwc.albom55.ru/hrp/pic/H&R%20Main.pdf Cheers, |

Adam - I have sent you the files. One thing that I am really interested in potentially modifying (if appropriate) is the initial deployment of forces, and the reinforcement schedule. My version thus far keeps in line with the stock scenario's deployment and reinforcements, but there are areas that I always wondered about, such as: 1. the Leipzing garrison and Gyulai 2. St. Priest's Russian corps 3. Army of Silesia (in general) 4. Imperial Guard 5. Attached forces 6. Etc. etc. Just throwing it out there... |

Hi Tim, Sorry I have not replied to your email. Work has been very, very busy this month. Please send me the files too. As per our previous conversations, I think one of the key issues to consider is the eye in the sky---because Napoleon knows where the Army of Silesia and the Army of the North are located in this game, he can concentrate where he chooses. Historically, he did not know the location of either and was slowed a bit in concentrating to the south. At least, that is my read on it. There is also the issue of the corps (I forget which one, Souham?) that was caught marching back and forth and did not get in the action, which is not an eye in the sky issue but more on the order of command---our corps always march where we want them to go when we want them to go there! So maybe the H&R can slow the pace to overcome these to issues-eye in the sky and command- that allow the French to crush the Army of Bohemia pretty much everytime. Otherwise, you will have to tweak the reinforcement time and consider fixing units in order to achieve some semblance of the historical situation... |

I would like to see the R&H Leipzig files. I have studied the battle, and playtested it as part of the Campaign Leipzig development team. See my Dresden scenario in Campaign Leipzig, 028_Dresden-WB_HTH, for oob/pdt ideas I have which aren't far from R&H. |

I may be a bit out of date and confused but is R&H the one where melee is limited by a large modifier? My main concern about that systemn was the overwhelming power it gave to artillery (as meleeing them becomes very difficult). If you apply it to the vast artillery resources of Leipzig I suspect you will have a game similar to ships of the line fighting. I may have misunderstood though ![]() |

Hi Colin, That's right - this would be an issue as of version 1.03. However, this has been taken care of in the version 1.04. Tim, In my understanding your files are based on the latest version of PDT (artillery FP reduction) as per the latest Borodino pdt I emailed you ? Sorry was unable to spent much time on the files as I am under the hammer from work, study, renovation, personal commitments. |

Alexey - Yes, I believe that I incorporated reduced firepower for Artillery in my version. That being said, you should take a look at my PDT file and confirm for us that that is the case, as I can never be 100% certain that I have the latest & greatest version. Thanks, Tim |
