We wish him many victories in his battles to come!

Wish him victories? Au contraire, or as you French say'" No way in Hell"! But I would ask he carry a full purse and a newer blade in to battle. I could use them to build up tab in the tavern.

Congratulations on your advancement. Is there a wine tasting class in that academy?

Salute!

Welcome to the IV Corps Lieutenant Enidem.
May you lead your eagle to glory upon the battle maps in the name of L'Empereur! 8)

As to your question about wine tasting at the Ecole Militaire, Ensign Bradshaw...
I can assure you, as an instructor in our fabled academy, that there is indeed such a class... :D

After all, our new recruits must learn the graces of celebrating their victories over the Coalition.

"...learn the graces of celebrating their victories over the Coalition."

Ah, that is indeed a good one, General Schmidgall! Surely the concept must hold an equal rank with 'the Innate Humility of a Frenchman', 'Liberty, Fraternity and Equality (for only those who actually are French and/or Corsican of course)', and my personal favorite, 'French Naval Supremacy'. :o

France has become a nation of brigands, Ensign Bradshaw. They perpetrate their conquests at the expense of civility and reason, always pandering to the emotions of their citizens in the hopes that they will never stop long enough to engage in any level of rational thought. :(

Lieutenant Enidem, I salute you sir! It takes a brave individual indeed to stand opposed to the overwhelming might of the assembled Coalition. Your bravery is, of course, only matched by the sheer folly of your lost cause. Be that as it may, I drink a toast to your continued good health, young sir. May you unerringly lead your eagle to the glory…

…provided by its safe storage in the trophy room of the mighty Anglo-Allied Army!

Cheers, Lieutenant Enidem. :D :P

{All in jest of course. Congratulations on your commission as an officer in La Grande Armee}

Congratulations Sir.

You could save yourself a lot of trouble by just presenting your sword at my tent where I could display it without the tiresome bother of actually having to fight the battle. I find battles so intrude on my drinking time. ;-)

The officers where all in heated debate about the merits of their nations, as the meek Lieutenant checked his purse. Yep, there was rouge and perfume, a must have for the dandy's of Paris, but there was a bit of a shortage of coin. :( Maybe he should have waited to purchase those nicely embroidered hankerchief, but, he would have been laughed out of his academy without them. :( What was the poor Lieutenant to do, there was the barkeep, pouring more drinks :(

Then the door to the door to the tavern burst open, allowing the rays of the sun to enter the establishment, and there stood a figure, silhouetted in the door.....

"Ach, Es ist einer neuer Frenchie. :o Mein Herr, Prosit! ":D :D

"Was mein Herr, was?!?" :? "You are short geld?"
"Do not worry, ve haf ways around such problems, I shall have a case of drink brought round from mein tent." :D :D

"Oh, es ist kein Problem, heute ist ein Fest Zeit! Wir muss alle trinken!" :D :D :D

"I zee that Herr Kling ist nicht heir, :D , Zo, wir muss ein Lied singen!"

Alle aufgepaßt!
Alle Tritt gefaßt!
Wir marschieren in Reih und Glied. :D
Alle aufgepaßt!
Alle Tritt gefaßt!
Kennt ihr das Funkerlied? :?
Von der Funkerei
Und der Liebe nebenbei
Singt alle fröhlich mit,
Singt, Kameraden, mit: :D :D Ja, Sie muss singen... :D

In dem Städtchen
Wohnt ein Mädchen
Und das lieben wir so sehr,
Denn es hat zwei blaue Augen, :D
Blonde Haare,
Siebzehn Jahre, :D
Sag', was wollen wir noch mehr,
Wir Funkersoldaten?
Denn wir sind ja von der L.N. Kompanie,
Und wir geben stets: "Ich liebe, liebe Sie",
Und alle Mädel hören mit.
Di da di dit, di da di dit!
:D :D :D

Welkommen

When the Peccolo sings, the I simply order the French cannon to start firing and it almost deadens the sound!

The key word here being "almost".... :) :D :P

Even the Emperor's 'Beautiful Daughters' cannot overwhelm the spirit of a redoubtable Hanoverian.
