Hi Philippe, I have come across a few missing portraits and unit 3D icons for both armies in Bautzen. Are you aware? :D

No, I'm probably not aware.

First, make sure you have the latest version of my Bautzen mod and the latest official patch. There were many versions of my mod (and there will be several more when I finish modding the ships), and some of those earlier versions probably did fix missing image issues.

If the latest version of my mod doesn't do the trick, please let me know what those leader images are, exactly what units are involved, and which scenarios they appear in (so I can make sure the error isn't with the patch). I'll take a look, fix what I can, and pass what I can't fix on to the official patch team.

I'm expecting problems with the Nansouty image. I have fixed it (or think I have) in my own personal copy and understand that it will eventually be fixed in the upcoming patch.

In any case, let me know exactly what is amiss and I'll see what I can do towards a permanent solution as well as a temporary fix.

Putting oob files together is a bit like herding cats, so I'm never surprised when I find out after the fact that a fix that was put in in version 3 managed to slip out again in version 5.

By the way, my mods as currently presented do not alter any text files, scenario files, or oob files. In that respect they're designed to work with plain vanilla versions of the game only. But given the slow pace of official updates I might make a temporary exception (especially since the offical patch will come out fairly soon and overwrite it).

I do recall, now that I think of it, that several versions back I discovered that a few units in the middle of the units.bmp were missing their background flags. The bitmap was so large that checking the beginning and the end of the file in paint never showed the middle. I could have sworn I corrected that.

As for the leaders, you get so bleary-eyed remaking and substituting all those images that it wouldn't surprise me if something was missing. What I can't fix directly are situations like the Nansouty problem where the oob file coding invokes the wrong leader image. In a case like that I would be inclined to set up my mod to work with what I think the final official patched version will be, and issue some temporary oob files that key to the correct spot on the leader and/or unit bitmap.

When you find glitches, I'd love it if you sent me an email about it.

Thanks.

Got your pm, sent you an email.

For future reference, if anyone ever needs to get a hold of my email address it's always listed after my signature at the bottom of the readme files in my mods.

We need to figure out what is going on here as quickly as possible. If what you are experiencing is not part of my most recent mod, then it might be something caused by the oob files. If that is the case, time is of the essence, because we'll have to persuade Bill to include it in the next patch, if it isn't too late. If we miss this one, the next patch may not come along for a year or so. In that case I would consider including a set of oob files with graphics corrections in my mod, but only as a last resort.

I clicked on all the units in the display units scenario this morning, and the only ones that didn't have images were listed as open slots, i.e. they don't need images. The individual scenarios are supposed to be consistent with the units display scenario, and if they aren't, then the oob's which govern what images show up will need to be corrected.

The missing 3D unit graphics seem to be caused by a glitch in the coding of the oob files which will probably be corrected in the next official patch.

In the meantime, I've made an adjustment to the unit files that should correct the problem.

So some units will appear in 3D in the Bautzen mod version 1.1e that were invisible in version 1.1d.

For the moment I've only updated the box account, so be warned that my dropbox account still has the old version (1.1d), whereas my box account (the first of the two on the list) has version 1.1e. Making changes to my dropbox account is rather involved, and I'm planning on updating the dropbox versions when I release the ship graphics.

There is spillover between the last three games (Leipzig, 1814, and Bautzen) and many of the files are shared, though some are only similar. I'll need to do some research to see if the glitch (which seems to be confined to the 7 Jaeger) appears in some/none/all of the other two games.

In the meantime, many thanks to Ed Blackburn for finding this.
