Sirs,

Using the open forum for this post because as well as a warning it is an accolade to a fine officer.

Having been beaten at Borodino by Hector Lopez I asked to play the French side against him at Borodino. As the French he steam rollered over me. I had wanted to learn two things; how would he play the Russians; What it would be like to be the natural attacker.

Guess what - I am attacking and feel like I am being steam rollered by the defenders.

Allied comrades if you want to learn how an aggressive plan is executed challenge him, learn from him.

Unless my memory serves me poorly, which unfortunately it often does, Lt. Lopez actually attained a General's rank and a posting in the Imperial Guard before electing to 'start over' as a Lieutenant. There are currently a few within the French ranks that have done this. All that I have met are honorable and skilled opponents whose Wolf's Clothing does not seem to inhibit their performance on the field. :o

Well said, Tony. You bring honor on yourself with your honest praise for a fellow officer, irrespective of his uniform (and wholly misguided cause). :D :P

Obviously he is trying to double dip on the retirement system. Two General retirement pay should be sufficient to live like a king. Oh wait, that could be unhealthy in that part of the woods.

Before one takes to the field against Lt. Lopez, your affairs should be in order as he is not to be taken lightly.

Dear Allied fellow commanders:

I have the honor of being engaged in a glorious Borodino battle against Lt. Lopez and hope to be able to get your swords and colors back.

Indeed- He attacks like a steamroller.
About 35% of the Holy Russian Army and a respectable part of his have gone Bagration´s way.. BEFORE TURN 11

Yet, The Tzar´s Grenadiers & Guards like marble stand. (and fall)

The battle is ferocious, but so far is a Draw-

For the glory of the Spanish Brigade!

Look my brave Spanish brother, even the Commanding Officer of the French Tyrant's Imperial Guard is urging Lt. Lopez to flee the field! Your battle may be won sooner than expected, assuming the good French Lt. acutally knows how to follow orders.

So says the esteemed general with the ferocity of a Parisian house cat.

I have known Lt. Lopez for some time, and I find it doubtful that retreat is a thought foremost on his mind. The good Teniente had best salvage the most he can from the encounter, perhaps taking some comfort in the education such a battle provides.

One should always learn every lesson possible from every engagement. Wise words as usual from Marechal Bardon. :D :P

And all you French Marechal hopefuls should bear in mind his other words of wisdom as well........Hanoverians are utterly harmless. You should be able to rack up a lot of easy kills.

More importantly, the Hanoverians, as a group, are darn fun to battle against, regardless of the outcome or the field.

Of course, I find it best to saddle them with the 'E' quality landwehr from Waterloo first, then they can be pretty much as docile as a house cat, and run as fast as a greyhound.

Why thank you, Jeff. We do always try to have fun and enjoy the cameraderie and friends we make along the way. The social aspect of our club is as important to us as the gaming aspect. :D :P

Jeff really is not kidding about this, but if you really want to have us be "docile", you must attack our E Morale Conscripts with A++ Morale Old Guard. Yeah, Jeff does that too in case you were not certain.
