It should be noted that a grand undertaking is currently going on. On the battlefield known to the civilized world as Waterloo, two Spanish upstarts, heroes to us all, with the auspicious names of Fernando LopezGallo and Richard Bradshaw, have drawn our sabers and marched forth to stop this madness known as "France does the Can-Can". This multiplayer game stars myself as the august representative of the British forces whilst Fernando tries to reign in the fierce Prussian forces. The fearsome French forces are commanded by none other than Todd Schmidgall and Jeff Bardon. Blood will be spilt, worlds will collide, but the world of Royals and all that follow them will know that Spain is here! Already the French have sealed their fates by attacking men of the cloth, local pastors on their way to Rome, under the guise of "scouts". Who knows what tyrants will use this excuse in later centuries. Future dispatches are sure to follow.... |

Ernie - you have it so correct - it is a Spanish thing - they are prone to mixing up the words Not sure though what Todd and Jeff will do with two rusty Spanish swords - not suitable for the trophy case - I guess their gardeners can use them for digging out the weeds. |

LOL Nice ones, both Roy and Ernie. Under the guise of false clergy, the Prussian army did try to forcibly prevent a party of dragons from visiting a winery near Chatelet. Fear not, mes amis, the Armee du Nord has dispatched these evil doers as there disguises were poorly constructed and showed none of the flair and fitting that would otherwise be present if such things were constructed by the tailors of Paris. To the Spanish Brigade, may the horrors of war be visited upon thee and thine and may your soldats never know respite, until they lie vanquished across the fields of Belgium. Oh, and best of luck in the battle etc. etc., off to a rather enjoyable and witty start. Cheers! |

The Spanish Brigade apart from Trane, them 2 officers are the Spanish Brigade so our officers have nothing to be afraid of here in fact I do believe that they will soon be turning tail and running away. In fact Our officers could send women against them and let our soldiers have a lay in. |

We amigos applaud the idea of Mademoiselles coming to fight us. After all our training and battles across the countryside we had hoped to confront someone that will fight. Plus the after battle parties will be a bit more lively. So far out lying troops of both sides have made contact. The Brits went forward to shake hands and have a pre-battle breakfast, bangers and mash type stuff. The Croissant Brothers were upset because anything thicker than a soufflé upsets their stomachs. First words were exchanged, then tempers flared, doilies were flicked at us, then bullets stated flying. As for my Prussian brothers, they too were accosted needlessly as peaceful gestures were offered. A contingent of the finest men available were dispatched to make contact with the advancing aggressors. The Prussians waited on a ridge and when they saw the French they pulled out fine Prussian sausage and waved them in the traditional Germanic greeting at them. Who knew they would get upset at that? Well, it looks like all hell will break lose |

Salute! June 15th, 1815 0715 hrs: There has been a brief skirmish above the town of Chatelet where a squadron of Prussians disguised themselves as itinerate friars on pilgrimage (bah!). Our sharp eyed scouts saw through the charade and dispatched them forthwith to a special purgatory for such as any who would attempt a dastardly deception as that. The bodies were laid out for final absolution of their pitiful souls by the pool of Rau De Tallia Pres, where their most unlikely friar utensils of sabres and pistol braces were put on display for public consumption. Elsewhere, the fantassins have occupied the legendary Baggins Manor, where knapsacks were filled with honey cakes and the finest bottles of vintage to be found in these environs. A distant cloud of dust reveals the approach of a Dutch Division marching to replace the former garrison of the place who had earlier fled at our bold advance. Forewarned, the fantassins are making one final sweep of the abode gathering up the cutlery and other objects (what's this - silver mirrors - these will surely come in most handy on campaign) before preparing to meet the foe in battle... So far it has been relatively quiet along the front lines. A bit of dancing between the forces is occurring. A pirouette here, a box step over there, and because hot blooded Spaniards are involved, a little Salsa to go along with a Tango or two. The citizenry that have fled before the advancing heathens report ill conduct from them; thieving, bestiality (no wonder their horses are so grumpy. Not even they can be satisfied), and wanton disregard for the Houses of GOD!!!!! There can only be one result from such behavior. A total allied victory where our spoils will be shared not only among the troops, but the locals who have been victimized as well [ as long as they can produce a certified lineage to anyone of Royal Blood as decreed by law. I mean, we are not revolutionaries who believe in wealth redistribution...]. But we will not be having any horse meat .... |

It was the reports of what the French were doing with the horses that threw our appetite off. Rumor had it these folks are a tad lonely being so far from Paris. |

Vell Lt Hornsby, if you vish to dirty your uniform again you must read the post about the horse Buttercup.   There is even a better one than das, perhaps ve shall bring it around again too.  As for mein fine singing mount, it sings a lovely tune which has put the fear into many a French soldier  So, sit back, haf ein drink on mir, Helga, Helga... ja, ein drink fur diese French Lt., Bitte und einmal bier fur mir!
