Salute!

October, 1813,

Somewhere in Germanae.

L'Chevalier found himself slowing coming to wakefulness after a restless night spent dreaming... very strange dreams indeed.

He had been surrounded by men in foreign uniforms speaking in tongues harsh to his ears.

There was talk of having finally brought the dreaded Ogre to bay in the corners of three rivers...

Plans were hatched as to how best bring final defeat to the Lord of War and his assorted band of swords.

Plans that L'Chevalier recalled with mounting horror included his own very distinct role to play...

Thankful to be awake at last he splashed water upon his face, to clear the nightmare memory away.

What was that?

The voices were still there!

All about!

Opening the flap to his tent he peered out - and the sight that greeted him was not at all what he hoped to see - he was in a strong encampment filled with soldiers all wearing the uniforms of the assorted kingdoms which long had been the foes he faced upon the battle maps!

Was he their prisoner?

He had no recollection of such event occurring...

An officer approached him wearing the uniform of a staff command - and instructed him to follow hence to the operational planning meeting - where he was expected.

In dazed near disbelief he made to do as was bade.

As L'Chevalier strode through the encampment he could not but be amazed at the quantity and quality of muskets, sabres and cannon on display.
Such a vast armament he could not believe.

Into the main room of what was once an inn but now clearly devoted to other means...

And there upon a table was spread a large battle map around which stood an assemblage of men, with faces all cast deep in thought.

Their leader looked up and smiled at his entrance.

"Welcome, sir! Join our discussion and give us your impression of how we conduct martial operations against the foe."

Surely this was not the case?!?! L'Chevalier thought to himself.

The man speaking had once before faced him across a similar battle map - as they had each done their best to bring defeat upon the other...

The Red Menace was all smiles and delightful as can be at this moment.

L'Chevalier found words forming in his mouth and speaking them without even consideration - "Field Marshal, I will give you what insight I may - and may the fruits of our endeavor be that of victory over the enemy of peace."

Strange indeed were these Napoleonic Wars Continuum, that should find him allied if only for this battle in space and time among the ranks of the Coalition.

As he gazed upon the battle map of Leipzig and its environs he found himself wondering - who was it (a friend perhaps) that might even now be on the other side of the hill, planning to bring victory to the eagles of L'Empereur at the expense of his own new command?

Regards,

A dream, definitely, a dream.

Either that or a bad fever that has caused hallucinations.

I fear it may be the fault of Fernando and I. In a MP battle he is playing against a fearsome and powerful Spanish Brigade force, he may be loosing sleep from anxiety and fear. Also, we noticed that in this part of the country there are mushrooms growing that are of a very potent nature, similar to the ones the natives in the far west of the new America use to commune with their gods. We know how the French cannot resist a good mushroom soup or escargot with buttery garlic mushrooms.

Hopefully after a steady diet of grape shot he will return to normal.

My compliments, Todd. I find FM Blackburn to be a most agreeable chap, albeit somewhat strict on his underlings from time to time. (Yes sir, I will have your laundry pressed and put away just as you prefer, sir.) :o

Ah, how well I remember the time, as well as the shock, when I found myself trapped within a smelly, French cuirass riding beside General Knox in the middle of the Ogre's Chassuers a Cheval...

And just like you, I had no memory whatsoever of how I arrived in such a predicament with no choice but to patiently bide my time until I could effect my escape. Even then, it took me another two weeks to cut the cuirass off my chest. It seemed the French Peacock had instructed that it be welded in place. He is certainly a devil, that one. :o

He dresses much nicer than everyone, sir. The only other that may compete with him in this regard is his Commanding Officer, Marechal Bardon. There is no doubt that both of them are French Poodles, although even dandy dogs can sport teeth.

I am not into fashion so much, sir. I find that so long as my sword remains sharp, my horse well kept, my rifle clean, and my powder dry, I can still kill nearly every Frenchman that crosses my path. The relative appearance of my uniform has no bearing on the matter whatsoever. In fact, the brighter the colors of my enemy's uniform, the easier he is to spot from a distance, and the better target he becomes. :o

It's true red is a nice color for a target.

Ahhhhem yes I have always felt my tailor could help you dowdy coalition fellows.

FM Blackbird and Corporal Jones your attire really is in need of some Parisian styling.
Only problem would be getting you out of the cage to do it.

Helga a round here please

So I have noticed.... :o

The only problem is, this particular target shoots back, and I am a very good shot. :P
