Can anyone provide the number of new members who joined in the past two months?? I am curious, I feel like this should always be published, each month....

Salute! 16 in the last 60 days!  I seem to recall that an average of 2 + a month was considered good. And that some thought our club membership was going to fall off drastically... 5 a month certainly sounds pretty good. Now we all need to work to keep them! Regards, |

Thanks Mark. It will be needed to counter the attrition. But good overall. Can I request that the numbers of new officers be included each month in the Cabinet Minutes report? |

It is for these days. We will need new, active officers, after the attrition that has and still will take place after the Coalition Musters. Back during the heyday of these games the ACWGC used garner more than 15+ a month on each side of the Club. There were times here too that we would have a lot each month too. It isn't a reflection of current events per say, as much as it is a reflection of the type of games we play and the age of the series/games we play and the lack of new releases. |

Sixteen in two months is an extremely good number which far exceeds what we have seen in years past. Despite Scott's claim to the contrary, I think it is a clear reflection upon the very good job we are doing managing our club. I believe we are seeing these numbers due to the adoption of the new Club Rules that give members far more rights than they ever had under previous management, the active recruitment that we continue to encourage, the vast improvement in the maintenance of our webpages, and the personal attention the current administration gives individual members. As I said in one of my other posts, there is much more to the system working properly than simply bringing in numbers. It takes a lot of factors for our club to be successful, and we are doing a very good job of it despite the intentional efforts of a small minority to mislead you into thinking otherwise. We have a group of very dedicated individuals in the administration of our club that have been investing countless personal hours to ensure our success for quite some time now. All of that hard work is paying off. We simply had a lot of problems that were left to us by others to overcome, not the least of which was attitude. We still have a lot of work yet to do, but we have made some very huge strides in the right direction. |

One thing that I admire is the open door we have with the Club president. Now as far as training goes it far better then when I joined you got to play your Commander and you were out in the field. The Old guys had to reenter the training school. Like Scott said thanks to the two new games 1813 1814 we have new and better games to play now I know many want 1790's and 1800 but I like Spain. Over all we have come a long way since 2000 when I first started I can't understand why it says 07 I guess I came back then. We do need a Newsletter and to the men that ran it Bravo for there service. Do you remember The Emperors Cuirassier, and that Russian General turns to eat and my New Adventures of Marbot

If I follow your thought I would say that if we have a higher number of new recruits it's because they enjoyed the discussions we had in the main forum. Contrary to what has been said many times, the politics of the club do interested new members.  More seriously I think it would be a good idea to have a survey sent to the new members after a month or so to see what they like and dislike with the club. It would help serve them better and understand their need. Where I am working we do survey on a regular basis. And it's easy to create a survey with Google. The most important is to find the good set of questions to ask. We could also have a survey done for all members sent annually so we know what they think of their leadership (corps, army commanders) and of the club in general and maybe ask them what they would like to see evolve. That would be real democracy. |

It is not appropriate to compare this club with the ACWGC---that club has always had a ton more members, mostly from the USA, for the longest time it had a lot more games coming out at a brisker pace, etc. 16 in two months is excellent and I wonder why that is. I have two new rectruits and I know one is part of Hakan's Histwar Cult (ahh, if I only had time to become a full fledged cult member---learning new games makes my head hurt) and the other appears to be a Napoleonics guy). All this talk of attrition etc rings hollow for me. The people doing the most complaining have not left the club and I doubt too many more than usual have either...We have always had a huge descrepency between members on the rolls and actual active members (in the Austrian Army it has been at best 50-50 for years). We always lose players for a variety of reasons and these games are long in the tooth, although I am surprised at how many people are just discovering them (the soon to be famous Viktor Schmagin, for example)... |

Well in my case I knew HPS/JTS games for years but didn't bother to buy one, first because it seemed to me that the engine was almost not developed beyond the initial one so the lacks of the engine were not really solved besides some minor things and that would mean each time you would pay for historical research only but that could have also been done by the community if only we had the proper dev tools so overall it felt a bit like cow milking to me, second it would have been a hassle to buy those games oversea and also expensive with the shipment and fees on top of it and third I wasn't really hooked on the Napoleonic train. What changed last year when I entered the club was simply that all things reach a critical mass: 1. Although the engine was still only developed in some minor points I could at least see some things enter even with the patches and also the attempt to expand the historicity of the games with things like the dragoon unit type added. That gave hope. 2. Now with the chance of simply buying them online and also dowloading them that way and this for even 10 bucks less made it very easy to at least take a look at the series. 3. All the documentary that started to "rain" in since 2005 with all the 200 years jubilee just fueled my interest in the Napoleonic era and was topped with last years TV & online coverage of the Battle of Leipzig. This all lead me to buy the "Campaign Leipzig" and to enter this club. Heck it was about time! I think that we may see a pike in club joining in 2015 with the waterloo jubilee as I bet that TV & online sources will dig thruh all the Napoleon stuff again with this last great jubilee before falling silent. |

We have 5 HW officers in 2 months (Jan 23-March 23) (Antonio, Eduardo, Christian, Bruno and John ( I count John too cause now we are playing training game he will be in coalition army soon) 2 more arrived between (Nov 23 - Jan 23) Oliver and John (he is playing Leipzig as well tho he is much more focused on that!). BUT course it wont go like that we used the reserves now waiting new MP players to the hw community 8as most play SP !?!) and expecting 2 more veterans in hw world join us after the patch.Jim i can say its an easy game ( i just mean here you dont give orders to units 1 by 1, you deal with Corp commanders mostly - but course can give individual orders to units anytime you like) so a relaxed game i can say whenever you like i am ready for a pbem Quote: 16 in two months is excellent and I wonder why that is. The majority of the members do not in any way appreciate the controversy that is being intentionally stirred up by a vocal minority. Most members wish to have fun and play games. They could care less about the 'politics of the club'. In my opinion, politics has no place in a gaming club.
