For those who want to read a little history of the club please refer to the NWC newlsetter. http://www.wargame.ch/wc/nwc/NWCnews.htm I started the first two and thanks to those who continued it. It does provide some good history of the clubs humble beginnings. Me and Steve started the club with Steve getting the French going and me the Allied with Bill stepping in to build it up. Almost 16 years ago. To be that young again 'sigh'. |

If you follow Pierre's link to Edition 7 of the NWC Newsletter you will find a link to the following short article: STARTING THE NWC According to Pierre Desruisseaux: We started in February 98, Steven J. Peluso suggested that we start a Napoleonic club along the lines of the ACW, ACW was about 6 or 7 months old at the time, with most of the problems ironed out. Steven J. Was the Union CoA at the time. Doug Hocking and Allen Torgenson helped out with the graphics/logo and OOB setup and concept, as well as others I cannot remember. There was a flurry of activity, was easy to setup due to the experience in the ACW, Forms and recruitment was setup immediately. I copied over the rules from the ACW and modified them for the NWC. We started recruiting, it increased quickly to about 30, within a month. I had joined the French army (go figure) but the Allied Coalition did not have a leader. Steven J. was the French Army leader. I took over the Allied Coalition as Chief of the Armies, and organized the 3 armies, Prussian, British and Russian. It took awhile to get the reliable, good, CoA's, that we have know. It was interesting that, I was condemned by some of the French Officers for changing sides, not realizing why it was done. I still wanted to be in the French Army. Anyway, once the Allied Coalition was running I abolished the position of Chief of the Coalition Army and let the individual CoA's run the show, remaining as secretary of State. Ray Panfil was the Sec. of war from the beginning. Steven J. has been president since the beginning. With the work to do in the ACW, I only take care of admin duties within the NWC, concentrating on the ACW, I actually prefer the ACW games. I feel that the Napoleonic titles are great but it just does not feel right. Steven J. had relinquished command of the Union army to concentrate his efforts in the NWC. All in all a good working relationship. Accrding to Mark and Steph: I will attempt to tell you of the beginning of this fine club. Hopefully it will not sound like I'm bragging. The origin of this club can be traced back to the message board at the Mason-Dixon Tavern belonging to what has come to be known as our sister club. I osted a message on that board about 13 months ago. It was something like "would anyone be interested in a similar club dealing with the Napoleonic side of the Battleground Series?" I soon recieved messages from Steve Peluso, Pierre Desruisseaux, Bill Peters, Brett Trevalyan, and Doug Hocking. (If I have forgotten anyone, I appologize, I have since turned 40 and the mind may be going) I'm not sure how many days we spent hashing things out to set rules and how it would break down, you know, how the French finally broke down into Corps and the Allies broke down into Armies based on the different nations. We discussed the rank structure and Who would lead the club once we got started. So about a year ago, we started the Club and we've been going strong ever since. |

It is always a good read. While I was looking at a few newsletter then I decided to have a look that the old battle records and it seems that the link is not valid anymore. Could it be possible to have the records on the club website? |

It was right in the past but then was reverted back for some reason or another..... |

That brings back some good memories. The club has had some real characters in it over the years. I joined in December 1998, after following others over from the old Talonsoft message boards where I used to find opponents before the club existed. I then joined the ACWGC in March 1999. I'm very grateful for all the fun and camaraderie I've enjoyed here over the years... ![]() |

It was right in the past but then was reverted back for some reason or another..... All fixed (again). I had previously fixed this link, but Marco's last overwrite of my work with an outdated file broke it once again. I simply overlooked it the last time I repaired the lastest damage. Pierre is well aware of my frustration at having my webpage work continously overwritten by others. It is simple enough to work as a team, but you have to be willing to do so. Thanks for pointing out the broken link, David. Should you find any others, just let me know and I will be glad to restore them as well. |

Some of my family called me the missing link when I played rugby. Perhaps it was therefore a flock of peacocks that broke this link. PS I think I joined in late 2004 early 2005. I can still remember my training game with Marechal Tony Malone. |

Thanks, Pierre for the post and the reminder of the legacy of the club and its earlier days. I enlisted in December of '98, and served at various times in both the AdN and the AdR. Very fond memories. |
