Salute!

Eugene, L'Parisian Alley-cat crouched low in the corner of the common room, hidden in the shadows cast by the officers of La Grande Armee sitting at their tables.

Could it really be? :?
Was it actually true?

His eyes narrowed and his haunches quivered...

It was - Die Ratte was back in da house! :D

Indeed, a very nice billowing signature.

Regards,

Well done Gentlemen,

Yes the picture is of Juana Galán. She was known for beating (literally) Napoleon’s troops from her village during the Battle of Valdepeñas in June, 1808. Without enough men to defend the village from the invading French, Juana aged 21, rallied the women in the village to drive out the French troops. They threw boiling oil on them and beat them with clubs. The French never returned.

Cliff, well done on the guess of Agustina de Aragon, she was going to be one of my next unknown pictures.

My plan is to offer a challenging graphic from time to time in order to instill our curiosity and keep us learning new things!
