I also recently purchased this game. I like the idea of randomly generated battlefields and forces to contend with. |

I don't have it. But somebody sent me the manual and it doesn't sound too bad. My issue is the pbem - you need to use the Matrix server . |

Yes you create an account in Slitherine and log in to the server with that. But its not that bad i think, you already get a mail when its your turn. Only you do is enter multiplayer when you run the game, email send to the opponent automatically. But i dont know what happens if ever server is down sometime in the future ... Slitherine is quite trustable i guess ? |

It looks nice but I find these games often have little replay value. The novelty will wear out fast. If the PBEM works well then it will be interesting for a much longer time. I played Field of Glory for about a week or so then! If you are doing the PBEM thing please give us your thoughts. I would like to like this game. |

You may be right Pierre. Can be a temporary interest time will tell. We start Wimpfen 1622 with Eduardo, i will let you know for sure especially the pbem issue. |

Bought it and didn't like it. Not much maneuver to the battles. No real campaign, it's hard wired to which side you play in the campaigns. Rennaisance is much better imho regards |

I see. So lovely graphics and limited gameplay appeal? Several other games seem to have gone down that route. |

The graphics aren't that great, somewhat hard to read the terrain. but that really doesn't matter, the battles are more like slam dancing, move forward to contact and that's about it. and it also seems that once a unit is engaged it can't be engaged by another unit. I've had pike units engaged and then tried to bring up arbusquiers to fire into the flank of the other unit and it wouldn't allow it. I guess this will appeal to some people, but I'm sorry I bought it. I have to learn to try the demo first I guess. also there are no leaders, and just generic units. When a unit routs you lose all control of it and the unit that routed it will chase it off the map and follow it off the map. So if you are heavily engaged at some point you can lose all control with units routing off the map and units chasing other units all over the place. |

Started 1-2 single player before go to MP David, you seem to be right but i will play some more before the final decision. I agree about the demo i have to do that as well. ![]() |

Haka, yes a demo would have been nice but I never saw one advertised. The draw for me was the English Civil War. I should have waited for John Tiller to bring out his Ren game covering that period. Hopefully that will happen soon. |

I wonder if this will help or hurt the chances of that happening. I was going to get this game but the drawbacks mentioned above make me think otherwise. |
