I know it's a bit early for such a suggestion with all the holes that have to be plugged first but I thought in case work is being done on the forum I should put this idea out in case it's less work to incorporate it right away instead of later. So working through all the threads I missed I see that at least 1/3 of them cover things like announcing promotions, rewarding titles, command appointments, congratulations for victories or whatever an so on and so forth. Now couldn't we put all this stuff into a new sub-forum, maybe called "The Parade Ground" or something like that? With a single place to post all this we would not only get that stuff out of the Rhine Tavern but also out of each of the Armies forums so these places would be clean of the paperwork. |

This is actually one reason why I changed my format for the Prussian Armee years back, as folks complained about all the announcements, I just started a Newsletter every once in a while to announce them and then did internal emails when the event happened.... |

Outstanding I get so tired of the post that so and so is promoted to this or that when it's the other side. Parade ground is awesome mon ami. When the Rhine tavern is natural ground for drinking and talking smack an pocking the bo bo as we say down her in the bayou while running from the po po! |

All members deserve to be recognized for their efforts and all officers should celebrate with them!! ![]() It becomes hard when one side is more dominant than the other and that shows through at times. But open recognition was a issue that members had in those forces and wanted. So it shouldn't stop for any force. |

Monsieur rummaging though all those announcements that General Kling took about a week, massing up my time to boost and drink and act a fool! After all the tavern is a place to drink fight cus and act a fool tell you called to duty. Now being a old salt I know that parade was called and liberty was called we looked sharped on parade but liberty call put on you tailor made blues and wallet in your mouth and thirteen buttons ready to drop from Norfolk to Greece back to the Crib up to Newport, Liberty, liberty call! |

Well the situation was difficult as the Coalition was very dormant during these times. Plus the French are the largest army, so naturally they'd have the most. I see it like this, if that path is picked to go a consolidated post is what is needed or it is not done as often as it was. Most folks like it, but are cool if it takes a bit to get posted. At the CCC we do all our updates and posts of this nature once a month and no one has really complained much on it over the years, as folks are here to game & have fun. So finding a good balance is key, if we don't do a subforum. |

Besides stopping the clutter it may also minimize the workload, doing 1 thread instead 2 will cost a bit less time. Another good thing is that a single thread will likely be longer with all congratulation into that instead of being spread between the Rhine Tavern and the Armies tavern, so the thread will be longer what surely is a small moral boost to the one that gets the attention. And when a member takes his time to look over such a sub-forum he will maybe see not one but more familiar names already on the first page and will likely congratulation some old enemies for there success, that may even move both Armies of this club closer together what can only be good. |

Yes I have to say that is an interesting suggestion. I too found the daily listings rather cloying and tried to ignore them. The problem would be though, who would bother reading a Parade Ground forum? I personally wouldn't. |

I think Christian hit it on the head with the capitalization of "congratulations" given to someone who won an award in one post. I still advocate for it being in the Rhine, where most everyone will visit, but in a limited nature. Another example I did with Prussia years ago, when it was active, was one post for all promotions, one post for all new recruits, one post for all medals & awards, one for new assignments/commands and one post for all nobility titles et al. Chances are your nobility title posts won't be made every month, so that leaves three and often only two, the promotions and awards being made, so it cuts way down on all the clutter and makes the forums easier to read, as well as places the most emphasis on the gathering of members to send their wishes to.... |

We used to have a Newsletter... where every corps/army would send a dispatch with the news... That could also be an option to revive. |

I put a suggestion somewhere else... but since this topic is about subforum I guess I can repeat it here: Quote: In the spirit of opening the club, maybe in the future we could have a part of the forum where people who are not from our club could come and prospect/ask question before committing to the club. That would mean that : Anybody can register to the forum. Everybody can read all the sub-forums (except armies forum) only members of the club can post everywhere (except the opposite army forum of course) And since we are continuing to talk about forum.... Maybe we could get rid of passwords for members to access to armies forum and just create 2 groups: one for the French and one for the Coalition and base those access to the group we are in. (in some way something similar to the ACWGC system of groups). viewtopic.php?p=85014#p85014 |

Indeed I miss the newsletter much And the suggestion about sub forum is to my liking along with the same as ACW with entering taverns ;o) After few words with Helga here one can so easily forget the password between pubs ,I mean taverns ;o) |

Well if no sub-forum is used I would like to modify Scott's idea, each side could do a command report each month a "Monthly Report" thread and put all the stuff collected over the month in the first post and it could maybe even incorporate other things like how many victories/draws/defeats were achieved or how many new member joined etc. And when the next report goes live the old thread is archived or at least the initial post with all the data in it, that couldbe a sort of collecting the "history" of each side. I just wonder how the guys in charge do their work and what would be easier for them. |

We can give the parade ground idea a try. What I find though is that the Rhine Tavern is where most of the post are and therefore easy to catch new stuff. I will give the CiC the thought and see what they say. I read somewhere, that a Pic would be nice for the Rhine tavern. I took a look and did not find anything suitable. If you guys have some send them to me so that I can have a look. All ideas and suggestions are welcome. Thanks, |
