For some reasons it seems that I have a restriction on my signature field for the picture size 100 by 100 pixels which is not much when trying to add a visible picture. I would appreciate greatly if it could be changed. Thanks in advance, |

Same here- I would like to use something around 750 x 150 px (if needed I will get the exact dimensions). Mind you -the avatar settings are only at 60 x 65 px -and while my current one is about 56 x 60 - it seems like the dimensions might have been a bit larger (like 100 x 100 possibly. Thanks. |

I think this was a recent change today, assume made on accident. 800 x 200 would be nice for signatures and I agree with Steve on the avatars. ![]() Welcome Back Steve! ![]() |

Adjustments were made to reduce burden on server. This included web page upload and download. Not everyone has a gazillion byte internet speed. It does not have to be square just as long it is in that limit. 300X300 for signature pics. Reasonable? 100X100 Avitar I hope this is a good compromise. |

Gotcha Pierre....don't wanna chew up too much bandwidth, now that everything is primarily hosted on our servers. That's fine I can live with that. ![]() |

I thought that when using BBCode for a image that I am hosting on my own site -the server load would be on my own site, not where I was inserting it into a forum on another site, though. I don't mean to pick on Scott -it is just that his image is conveniently located in the thread here- take the dimensions: 640px × 433px, and then looking at where it is hosted (on a wargame.ch domain) - something like that would actually create server load just by virtue of being hosted on the same domain as this site. Or at least that is what I thought. I thought that the dimension controls were for aesthetic reasons. Size limits were applicable when uploads of things like avatars were actually literally hosted on your site. I guess it is not worth arguing about for me, and I will simply ditch the signature or try to come up with a square one (I guess I could use the challenge). ![]() |

Most of us use external server for pictures... so why limit? ![]() The sky should be the limit. ![]() Most of the French signatures of actual members are at more than 450 by 300... Other are a little bigger. |

Ideally it'd be nicer for a longer width than height, as I know most folks like to have longer signatures than not. Shhh Steve - don't blow my cover, I got grandfathered in....did it before they made the changes.... ![]() |

Mr. Trauth image is 300 X 294. I think that is a reasonable size for Pics. Please consider that a lot times these pages are viewed by mobile devices. I would ask all others to voluntary reduce the sizes. If you need help with that let me know. Thank you for your co-operation. |

I am also viewing the forum on my cellphone which doesn't have a big screen (moto X first gen) and I have no problem seeing for example (since it's one of the biggest) Scott's signature. It does adjust automatically to the size of the screen. I think that if we all use external server for pictures (so we don't use wargame.ch resources) and we don't have something bigger than what Scott has we should be ok I guess right? |

Just to clarify it, when I host the pictures for avatar and signature on an external host does that take bandwidth of our server? But even if so some kind of limit is usually necessary at least sooner or later as there is always someone showing up with a huge signature and/or avatar that is not only huge in dimension but also in filesize, I've seen some ugly things on the web and there is no need that threads look distorted or take ages to load. But if external host don't take bandwidth it should be OK to be generous with the limits. And yes I would prefer signatures to be wider instead of higher, the wide limit should be at least twice of the hight limit, maybe something like 300 high and 600 wide. But the avatars beg for the opposite, here a higher than wider avatar would be nice that keeps the bar on the left at bay. |

I think at the moment I am focused on the square shape and being in a little unfamiliar territory (dimension-wise). Considering the length of unit names in my army it is not really going to work on that size (work meaning = be readable),especially if the consideration is about viewing it (or any for that matter ![]() I think I need to tweak it a bit, and knock a bit off of the edges and not make it so square looking on the edges... so it is what it is. I probably would prefer 600 x 150 but well, yeah I am up for a design challenge. |

Besides the picture should the whole signature be limited to a specific height(number of lines)? |
