I am please to announce that Associate Members are now being accepted. We still have a few things to update, such as the club rules and a join form but we are ready to go. As mentioned, Associate will have reduced privileges. The will not belong to an Army, will not have points or rank. They may play against any type of member, a full member will receive battle point. All games played against or with another associate members must be classified as a 'Match'. This is an option in the DoR when setting up a game. Associate members have full access to the Rhine Tavern. Opponent forum and other forums except for Army forums. All forum rules and club etiquette to be followed. Until the form is built anyone interested can send an email to pierred AT wargame.ch. I will set them up for forum access and at the DoR. We are looking for a volunteer to administer these new members, provide an orientation and ensure they are setup in the club. Thank you, Pierre D. NWC Staff |

To give a way to people of taking a look into the club without initially deciding to join any specific side. |

There are also some people who just want to play games and do not care about ranks, medals etc... |

Martin, The idea is that some people do not want to do any role playing (ranks, armies, etc), but want to play games, discuss the games, and discuss history. A lot of these type of players find opponents on the Blitz.org but that has very little game discussion, so the thought was by having an Associate Membership they could come here without feeling pressured to do more than discuss and maybe play games. They can join an army any time they want, so no one is restricting their "rights," it is their choice. And, regular members earn full points when playing a game against them, so we are not "penalized" for playing them. |

Monsieur one of the best Idea's that I have ever seen. When you come to the NWC you are told to play one side or the other now you can play any side and have a choice to what side you feel is the better side to play and to make a commitment to. |

BTW someone please correct the mail in the first posting because clicking on it will use this mail address: 'pierred@wargame.ch but it should be: pierred@wargame.ch I had link to the first post on my various postings over the net about the NWC and someone at the gamesquad send me a PM about this problem. |

I selected what side I wanted to play when I came to the NWC - there was no indication of being told which side I was to play. |

I think Clifton rather means that you simply have to decide for one or the other side, at least up to now. Easy enough for the experienced wargamer and also the one with enough background knowledge about the Napoleonic Wars but for a new guy in this field it is rather hard. |

It may also be a matter of taste and not wanting the role play aspect of an "army." |

Well I think here it's the same like on an RP server in any MMO game, you can do RP but you don't have to. So no one should be afraid to join any side because he thinks he is forced to do RP. |
