Was told by a fellow NWC member that a book would be arriving in my mail box soon. Went over to pick up packages at my box shop mail store where I get mail and a heavy cardboard book box was waiting for me. I rode my bike home with book box in backpack, carefully avoiding the wild cossack drivers along the way, and then had to run off to work. I got home last night, opened up the box to find that it was George Nafziger's new 1814 book!!! I wont embarrass the person her publicly but might give him a nice juicy charge target in one of our games as a show of my thanks! ![]() I plan on doing a comprehensive review of the book eventually. George told me that the publisher has held up the release of this book for years. No matter - I have it now and I intend on reading it from cover to cover. What I find might affect some of my work in 1814 so ... you might see some revised scenarios or OBs as a result .. and probably a few new scenarios too of actions I could not include because I lacked the data. |

Coming from the guy that has my three 1813 books by Nafziger ... it certainly was! ![]() I must agree with the reviews that the publisher should have assigned a proofreader to the project. Paco has done this for me in the past. Volumes of text he has sent me where I either misspelled words or my grammar was off. |

I guess it's "The End of Empire: Napoleon's 1814 Campaign", looking at the Amazon reviews it surely needs a second printing but only if they set some proofreaders on it before. I only hope this is not the new standard or else it would be better to go for ebooks, proofread it yourself and printing it out only if really needed. |

Yes, that is the book, Christian. The maps are nice, the OBs are the usual Nafziger style (meaning can have errors - you have to use other references along with his which for 1814 means "good luck"). |

Thanks to the kind gentle person (even here in the U.K. we have caught the dreaded American PC-itis), the tome will stop you watching Jerry S. Glad you are back Sir. ![]() Due to my age, war wounds and Helga's ministrations etc. am still grumpy... |
