Does the club have a preferred platform? I personally love the battleground series and I seem to see lots of members are playing the John Tiller's ones. |

The Napoleonic Battles series is the main pillar of the club. Looking at the DOR statistics the first 10 most played games are all from this series. |

Welcome to the club, Drew! As one of the founding members I hope you enjoy all that the club provides for the members. If you are new to the games you will be in for a steep learning curve for a while. This series is a notch up the ladder in difficulty from the WDS/JTS ACW series and the cavalry charges will drive you wild if you are not careful. Many of us "Cut our teeth" on the old Talonsoft Battleground (BG) series ... I loved Napoleon in Russia (NIR) the most. Played it a lot. That series left a lot to be desired so eventually several of us teamed up with John Tiller to produce more games of the Napoleonic Wars in the newer series (Napoleonic Battles - NB) and its been going strong since Campaign Eckmuhl debuted in 2000. Some things I miss from the Talonsoft BG series: 1. The ability to square before the charge during the Defense Phase 2. The counter charge ability that was added in via later patches to the BG series. I dont miss that skirmishers could block your path and not be pushed out of the way .... gamey players would use that a lot in those days. With the Single Phase version of the NB series you attack them and then continue to move through that hex you have taken. Only in a chateau will a skirmisher hold you up ... which is correct. |

In case recommendations are needed, you can't do much wrong with Leipzig. |
