Merci beaucoup! About a year ago I got quite interested in the WDS wargames after a spell with Gary Grigsby's War in the East 2 and various other titles. Initially my focus was on the WW2 period, and I've always been a single player gamer - but lately I've been drawn to the Napoleonic wars and have been reading Rory Muir and other authors, and really enjoying this scale of play compared to the Panzer Battles series. I really don't consider myself a very good wargamer, but I am quite interested in learning more about the period and increasing my competence with the WDS titles and as my wife always says, I could "get out of the house more". In this day and age, I think this is close enough! ![]() |

Welcome Sous-Lieutenant Simenic to WDS and the incredible depth of the Napoleonic Wars. I too am a Grigsby fan, I understand your passion... This is the best place to explore early 19th century battles from small skirmishes to very large and beautiful battles of hundreds of thousands of men and horse! You will find here years of worthwhile engagement against some very tough chaps who are just misguided enough to not support our Emperor, but otherwise friendly. Bon courage! Vive sir! ![]() |

To all gallant Gentlemen of the Allied Coalition, It has come to our mild attention—hardly worth mentioning really but still —that the La Grande Armée is once again growing at an alarming pace. Yes, yes... despite the recent defeats at the hands of our seasoned, tea-drinking, sausage-eating, vodka-fueled veterans, it seems the Corsican Ogre has clawed his way back into the hearts and conscription lists of his nation. New recruits are pouring in are likely just peasants, poets, and pastry chefs. No real match for our elite forces, of course. So nothing to worry... ![]() In any case, no cause for concern! We shall continue our leisurely campaign to liberate Europe from the corsican oppressor. Yours in coalition and confidence, Allied Headquarters, slightly less relaxed than yesterday |

I recommend when given the chance to pick up Campaign Leipzig. Some great battles in it. Hope you have fun playing the games and may victory adorn your flags! Noting this is a fine idea and pointing out the obvious flaws in joining the Corsica upstart can be a course taught at the ATC! ![]() ![]() |

Mes Braves Do not be fooled by this Allied propaganda. When an exalted officer such as the good General-Leytenant Tartyshev, is rumoured to be seeking several bolts of chocolate-coloured cloth for to his beloved Leib-Guard Preobrazhensky Regiment, we know he is indeed worried, despite his attempt at bravado. You may very well have practiced the finer arts of poetry, haute cuisine, animal husbandry and agriculture but do not forget, it was men like you who stood shoulder to shoulder when the Prussians and Austrians threatened La Patrie. Do you not embody that very same spirit, determination and love of country that your forebears displayed at Fleurus in 1794! A few exercises on the Champ de Mars and you will be a match for any of those mercenaries in the pay of Perfidious Albion. Do not be afraid of those aristocrats, thieves, drunkards and convicts who clothe themselves in red, blue, green, or white. You will soon see that those who would deny the benefits of La Revolution to all the people of Europe are not so leisurely when in retreat. If we band together, stand firm against the Allied Coalition ranged against us and utilise our natural martial ability, we shall prevail. Vive l'Empereur Vive La Francce Vive l'Empire |

What's this, what's this, more recruits for the forces of tyranny! I will allow that Les Bleus are a smartly tuned out bunch of chaps, but what's wrong with the tenets of the ancien regime, eh? eh? It's served us well so far, liberte, egalite, fraternite, won't catch on old chap. But it seems as though you are set on you choice, and I will salute anyone willing to take the Field of Glory, so bon chance Sir, may your port fire never wain! |
