Gentlemen of both the coalition and the magnificent troops of the Emperor,
I must offer my sincere apologies for my long absence, however I have been recovering from wounds in Les Invalides for a considerable time. Following my discharge from hospital I had a small amount of time under close arrest, this was a complete misunderstanding regarding a niece of the Emperor and also a tragic accident involving a grey gelding belonging to Maréchal Ney. I appealed directly to the Emperor who finally stated 'Boys will be boys'
I will be entering the fray very shortly in my fetching tight new uniform and also a slight limp. Gentlemen of the coalition please indulge me when you see me in the opponents wanted section of the bar.
Yours fraternally
Stuart

It gladdens the heart to see an old adversary return from the shadows.

We in Vienna had heard whispers of your absence. Some said you were a guest of the Czar; others claimed you were learning the waltz. But to hear that your exile was due to a Skandal involving Maréchal Ney’s horse and a lady of the court? Mon Dieu, only a French officer could survive such a tale with just a "slight limp."

A target as tempting as a returning veteran will not stay lonely for long. I am certain many Coalition officers will be eager to test if your time in Les Invalides has dulled your blade.

I wish you a swift return to the saddle (preferably not Ney's this time).

Willkommen zurück!

Good heavens… may 2001?!

Welcome back, sir!
You’ll find that things are a little different now. The roar of Allied guns is once again heard near the old French borders, and fresh young French recruits are being introduced to harsh battlefield realities in rather large numbers.

Great to see old veterans returning to the ranks. The game has seen a lot of positive changes over the years, and you’ll notice very quickly that version 4.09 is a completely different game from what it was a decade ago.

Welcome back.
Perhaps avoid horses for a while.
