Post subject:  Windows XP Tech and Games
Has anyone had problems with XP when you installed the XP 2 Update from the download manager?? What sort of problems?? Has it crashed anyones machine??

I am currently backing mine up to prepare for this??

Also are there any problems that arise with the games after the update has been done??

The attitude I've seen repeated by most tech advisers is that there can be problems with SP2 however you're potentially exposing yourself to a greater risk by not installing it.

Sir,
whatever they say, my comp went to "blue screen" only twice from the SP2 publish, loooooooooooooooooooooong time ago, even when using aggressive timing of memory and graph. card (but using only WHQL drivers). So, IMHO it depends on HW/SW/settings u r using, but from me u get "all green" [:)]

I have loaded it 2 times with no problem. I did order the CD though and ran it from there. I had dial up when I installed.

You shouldn't have any problems now unless you have very old non-standard hardware or legacy software. You may have to manually open some ports for certain application if you use the Windows Firewall. By default the firewall will be turned on. When I did it the Firewall sucessfully determined and opened all the necessary ports. I have some systems at work that required some manual tweaking for the reasons above. Over all I think SP2 is pretty stable now.

Thanks to everyone for the input. My system is from 2001 or 2002?? So I'm gonna try it, but I am in the process of backing everything up just in case....I need to do that anyways, especially with my precious e-mail backup files....oh God...if I lost a years worth of e-mails.......
