To commemorate the 190th anniversary, I'm looking for a French opponent to play through as much of the battle today (by PBEM) as possible. I'd like to play the historical 037.Waterloo_h. Since it's 52 turns it probably won't be possible to play through the entire battle in a single day, but it would be good to be able to play a significant part of the battle today. It would make a change from the usual game that tends to last months.

If interested, please reply by email to fow65@yahoo.co.uk by 12 noon GMT today, specifying your preference for optional rules. Unfortunately, if the game gets underway much after 12 then there won't be much time to play through the battle today, so unless I get a fairly swift response it'll be too late to refight the battle.

Hi Richard

I won't be able to play today nor do I have Waterloo yet but I have a comment.

The best way to play the game in a day is to play IP based, online. It is a lot of fun that way. I highly encourage everyone to try that way at least once. Have you considered that method?

I don't know how playing IP online would work as I've never tried it and I'm not sure how to set up such a game. I'd probably want to try something smaller first, just to get used to a new method of playing.

Works like a charm, Rich. We did it for a while with 1812 over at the CCC. [8D]

Had you announced this earlier, I would have suggested an online game for today.

Rich,

I do not have this game yet, but it sure is on the top of my
wish list. I too like fast games but it looks like in this
club many like to dwell a week for doing a 5 minute turn [V]
I am Not so sure if Huge sce. as online games is a success,
but perhaps I have wrong this time [8D]

Good Gaming!

Hi Rich and Ola

I mentioned the online method because Rich said he wanted to play in one day. I figure it is tough to play a big one in a day but has to be quicker to play (if playing all in one day) online than to do it all in the same day via email. Plus a lot of fun, you get to watch the other player move as he does, and trash talk :) One draw back is picking a good time for both players, especialy if in another time zone. Big scenario or small it works well.

I am with you Ola. Email games sure can drag for various reasons. I threw out an idea awhile ago that I wish more people would have yelled "yea, what he said!!". My idea is a game (file) that you could play either by email or online. Switch between the 2 as you like. I think there would be many more games being played to completion or games played period. I know it is not possiable now but...... ? :)
