I fail to see how on earth you can lead a club after resigning (how many times?), start a rival club, blow off at members using a false name...um have I forgotten anything. Must be good old democracy at work.

Thanks to Pierre, Jim and Cabinet for helping make this election possible and anyone else I may have missed. Thanks to John, Stephane and Dierk for running for office and making this election a near run thing.

And especially to the 71 of you that voted. You show that the election concept that I desired back in 2000 and earlier has become a regular part of the club.

I appreciate those that took the time out to do the democratic thing and vote for a candidate. You show that the concept of an election is not a waste of time.

During the weeks to come I will meet with the Cabinet and discuss the current topics that are on the burner. We will look at our direction as a club.

My door is always open.

And of course - the lemonades and ice teas are on me! Drink up guys.[8D]

I feel slightly confused though. Word from the cabinet was that a majority of the votes (51%) would be required. Nobody has achieved that, and still we have a winner? How does that work. [?]

Alright - lets step back a bit.

This thread is about election results. It doesnt declare a winner.

The question was put to Jim - he seemed to agree in an earlier thread that 51 percent was needed to avoid strategic voting.

The point was never discussed after that.

What is the Cabinet's decision on this?

The last thing I want is contraversy over the election.

Can we hear from Jim or one of the Cabinet members on what the official ruling is.

A runoff or are the results final?

I am responsible for the confusion. My proposal for to the Cabinet was for a "first past the post winner" i.e. the candidate that had the most votes. I have mailed the Cabinet members just to confirm that is what was agreed. My 51% was totally misleading, it could be construded that it had to be 51% of the Club membership in which case we would never get a President[;)]

Bill Peters achieved 38,03 % of the total votes
lacking 12 % to reach the required majority
a second turn is necessary between Bill Peters and DS Walter
(this is only if we want to have an election and not a coup)

Either I misunderstood either I STRONGLY disagree: IMHO, as Bill & DS have respectively 27 & 25 votes then a 2nd round HAS TO be run in order to settle the election.

Nothing to do with WHO are the finalist, it is just a matter of courteasy & common sense. and it is the ony acceptable way for me[8D]...
unless one of the candidates resign in favor of the other one !

Come on, Gentlemen! This is not US presidential elections neither North Korea around here.

I want to thank all those who voted for me.

Now to the topic of results..

I find it odd that the club rules make no mention of Presidential elections... I would strongly suggest that when a president is finaly confirmed that the club rules be updaed as to what the presidential election proceedures are.
