I recently approved a userid of someone who fits this name but thought that she meant that she was the grand daughter of a current club memmber named MICHELNEY...

Can't answer for Ms Ney, but I have a friend who IS a direct decendent of Murat...even carries the same last name. He served in the Army retiring a few years back.

A good question to ask Ms Ney is..does her ancestry stem from North Carolina or France? There is the story that Ney's execution was faked by his comrades of the Empire tasked to carry out the deed. He then escaped under false ID to NC where he lived out his life as a school teacher (or a similar profession). If she is of this line, then she has to have a great story to tell.

If she is from the family of Peter Ney (who spent some time in North Carolina, we talked about it a few month ago) she cannot be the grand daughter because it seems that he was single and died alone.

I have a lot of difficulties to see Ney after being a Marechal, a warrior, retiring from his life and becoming a teacher. It doesn't fit with his caractere.[;)]

Now there are many Ney...
