Post subject:  Napoleonic Game Design Update

Guys - just finished (YAHOO!) up the large map for next title - its 898 - 684. Twice as wide as Eckmuhl and almost as long.

Tossing in an additional 35 maps. Most of them are 120 x 80 (neat size - was able to put each together in about three hours) but several are large. Here are the dimensions for those that were larger than 120 x 80: 378 x 112, 190 x 189, 254 x 176, 184 x 175, 345 x 170. Thus five additional maps of large size.

Its my swansong for big map games as I will never be able to equal that amount of work in future titles.

Which game is it? Sorry, if I told you I would have to give you a frontal lobotomy! (am hoping that Ernie presses the issue!)[:D]

I can tell you that it will be out before the Summer is over.

We have fixed alot of errors in the game engine. One that Tomasz kept noticing was the units were being noted as Detached when in fact they were in command control range.

I cant go into details on the additions at this time but once the game is out I will be posting a page on my website that goes over all of the new additions.

Contrary to what I said earlier I will not be retiring from game design. I have hired one of my current playtesters to be my Playtest Coordinator for all future titles and also have one other gamer interested in helping out.

This will cut down the amount of time I have to spend in emails and doing some of the basic work and I can concentrate more on the scenarios and campaign creation.

Keep your horses saddled. More good stuff coming down the pike.

Hey Bill,
remember when I said you were a nice guy? Well, I was kidding. Giving us all these details without telling us the game so we can hit the library and read up on it :(

I know, HPS policy (which actually does not bother me).

Keep the games coming. And give me more Austrians, they are the only army I seem to be able to lead to victory.

Well, I did notice he was using Italian formations for his examples on the link he gives......
On the other hand, the Pennisular campaigns would be an awesome untapped project as well. Hmmmmm.[:)]

bah, was going to insult Bill, but accidently edited his post instead of insulting him.

I'm STILL not used to having mod privledges on this board.

At least I got it fixed.

No insults for Bill though.

Ha! That is what you get for trying to be insulting Gary! [:D]

Frankly, I cant figure out what a Lutheran minister would say that would be insulting. Probably accuse me of missing the last performance of Mozart's requiem! I promise - I wont do it again! [:p]

(that bit about the editing - happened to me here too back in Sept. - was VERY embarrassing to say the least [:I])

Wow. 89.8 kilometers by 68.4 kilometers. That's a big map.

Hmmmm. Its too small to cover all of the Peninsula.

Hmmmm. Its too small for northern Italy.

Hmmmm. Leipzig and its surrounding areas could easily fit on a map of that size.

Nice.

If you ONLY knew! Big Hint: I plan on slipping a map that will be familiar to you ACW fans. I just have to add this one in. I will not answer any questions on it but I will say that the map will be fun for those of you that love what-if situations.
