Post subject:  News from La Grande Armee HQ

It is a normal night at the Rhine Tavern. Officers of all armies are
sitting at tables, laughing, singing and swapping stories of their
exploits ( real or imagined ) with each other. Barrett snoozes in
his chair by the fire while a colonel dices with another officer.

The door opens and 2 lines of non commissioned officers enter. They
wear clean and crisp uniforms and are immaculate in appearance.

First come 2 Sergeants of Les Grenadiers à Pied de la Vieille Garde,
Next are 2 Sergeants of the 8eme Hussars of L'Armee du Nord.
Finally 2 Sergeants of the IX Corps d'Armee of L'Armee du Rhin.

Finally Maréchal Corbin appears followed by General Jensen, General Cox,
Monsieur le Maréchal Hall, General Wilson and Monsieur le Maréchal Stone

In Maréchal Corbin's hands there is a scroll bearing the Emperor's seal.

A young officer seated at a table, clearly deep in his cups, moves to inform
the Sergeants that only officers are permitted here but he is pulled back
to his chair by a comrade without incident.

"Gentlemen, if you pleas !!" Announces Maréchal Corbin as he breaks the seal
on the scroll and unrolls it.

"In the name of his most Imperial Majesty It pains me greatly to announce
that Monsieur le Maréchal Jeff Bardon, Prince de Wagram et Duc de Castiglione
et Commandant de la Vieille Garde, has retired from active duty"

A hush falls over the room.

"Monsieur le Maréchal Bardon has left instructions that his private stock of
libations is to be distributed to all at his personal expense. He also asks
that this group of sergeants be allowed to partake of the first toast as they
are representatives of some of his past commands."

Sadly it is true.... Jeff has now to much going on in real life to allow him
to continue his NWC activities.

You will be missed Jeff !!!!

Jeff,

You will be sorely missed, both for your prowess in the field and your sage counsel in the Cabinet[B)].

I can only hope that, like Roger Clemens, you will soon come out of retirement again[8D]!

Mon Marechal -

I thank you for all of your work for the club over the years. That and your championing of the French cause on and off the field. I trust that one of the young turks will try and fill the void left in MOE.

Bon chance!

Nnnnoooooooo !!!!!!!!!!!!!! Say it is not so. Marechal Eugène locks himself away in his small 354 room campaign tent and does not come out for 4 days and when he does he is wearing a black armband...on both arms. Will the two Ducs never ride again. Who will fill the dark side with terror now he has gone.
A sad day indeed. I will miss my friend.
With that Marechal Eugène turns and locks himself away again for another 4 days.

Au revoir mon ami [V]
