Congratulations Lt. Kling. Well done. Did I ever tell you about my first medal? Well, here, have a seat. Let me fill your glass. Now, as I recall, it was after my first battle of Waterloo. You see, after a hard day of fighting, the French cavalry were about to overrun one of our infantry squares. The men were in a bad way and they needed help. So I ordered my regiment of hussars (I commanded some Brunswickers back then) to charge. With a shout, I dug in my spurs and we were off. My horse didn't like that much and he turned and bit me on the knee but he did as I told him anyway. Well, apparently my regiment didn't hear the order because I found myself charging a French regiment of lancers all on my own. The Frenchies saw me coming and just stopped and stared. I ran right past them and over the ridge. They were totally flabbergasted. Meanwhile, the infantry had time to reform. Turns out, Wellington was watching and the next day I got my MGSM. Can you believe it? Ha! Ha! Drinks for Lt. Kling and all those who read this tale. [;)] FM Sir 'Muddy' Jones, KG 2nd Life Guards, Household Cavalry |
