Post subject: A Good Training Scenario

Could someone recommend a good Eckmuhl scenario for a training game with a young officer.

A 15 - 30 turn scenario with a good mix of forces, balance not really an issue, in fact a good advantage for either side would be fine.

I forget the number, but I'd say "approaching Abensburg". I think most people look at Teugen-Hausen, but you wanted a "mix" of forces, and that's pretty Cav light.

Hi Gary,

Excellent choice, the 03 Historical which has just the lone Austrian Brigade with another on the way to reinforce should give the French officer a chance to shine !

With the second Bavarian Division releasing later in the scenario, it will allow the French player to play out one division and then have another Fresh division to pursue the battle later on.

Thanks for the help !

L'Ecole de Mars recommends:

H02 Teugn-Hausen
H03 Approaching Abensberg

The best medium-sized IMO is H04 Hunting Davout. [^]

I fully agree with 'Hunting Davout'. I am in the early stages of this one with Marechal Bruce Hall and it's progressing nicely although it is 60 turns in length. whether I'm enjoying it at the end is another matter altogether. [:(]

just a slight note on noun usage. Scotch is drunk, Scots fight (they're not really particular on who they fight...)

The noun usage is not mine as is evident with the use of quotation marks. It has to be appreciated that the original words were spoken by a nineteenth century viscount.

I am aware that the term 'Scotch' refers to an alcoholic drink and nothing else but I must say that Scotsmen are very particular about who they fight as can be seen in various wars throughout the ages but like all other nationalities they have had their share of mercenaries.
