NME aside, I love the other changes I have noticed in Waterloo, (I have to wait until X-Mas for my Jena, lest I find myself in divorce court)

The reduction in move points for an about face is a welcome change

The increased movement rates in Waterloo seems right to me

Not sure if the "lethality" of weaponry was changed for Waterloo or not, but from what I have seen so far I love it, both for Infantry in Line and artillery.

Units re-ordering regardless of terrain is a welcome change.

Apart from NME, which is optional anyway, I love it. Thanks to all the designers for making this the only software/gaming company that I have ever seen that works so hard to please the ficklesome players that play their games.

Are you sure? I did a quick test with some inf disordering in woods and no 'undisordering' test was carried out for them while they were in the woods. It is something I'd like to see though.

I think it would be nice if there was consistency in these things:

some games have 20 minute turns, others do not

questions about arty effectiveness ( killing power ) have been raised.

I realize that different groups did different games but there should still be commonality amongst the games

Isn't it easier that way. Some players like the one system, some like the other. So there's something there for both, and everyone can play those games that he likes better. If it were a uniform solution the one way or the other, half of us would be happy, the other half disappointed. [:)]

One way to solve the turn time limit issue would be if you could be asked at the start of a game:

"How long is each turn"

10 minutes
15 miutes
20 minutes

etc...

may require some work but it should be doable...

I doubt it, John. Everything else depends on turn length ... movement allowance, fire effectiveness, ammo supply ... it would be hell to make those all uniformly modifyable.

Mssrs.,

One thing that is often overlooked in the "uniformity" debate is that almost all of these factors are contained in a game's "pdt" table and can hence be readily modified by anyone that cares to. For instance, I am partial to the movement rates/terrain costs developed for the Eckmuhl/Wagram games and I am seriously considering porting them over to the Waterloo game.[:D]

Obviously, the use of non-standard pdt files have to be agreed upon by your opponent(s). Additionally, to avoid compatibility problems in other games, you should re-name the pdt file and then create a separate scenario (by editing an existing one) that references the new pdt file.

Regards,

Paco
