Post subject: | Bill P's little chuckle |
I am sure that Bill has set a code in the files that propel routing French infantry directly into large Cavalry stacks that were positioned on the previous turn to decimate the enemy's advance. It is mind boggling how many times those cowardly little devils invariably find their way right into a stack of Cavalry[:(]. Does not seem to matter where they are when they start to run, but I have now come to the conclusion that dear old Bill has put some little homing beacon[:p] (in 1's and 0's of course) into the French Heavy Cavalry's code that causes infantry to mistake them for refuge. Sunday afternoon's while lounging in his Lazy Boy [:o)]he chuckles to himself as French officers curse in vain watching the replays and those little red arrows leading directly to their Cavalry[xx(]. Regards, Maréchal John Mitchell Grande Duc de Rivoli et Comte de Bordeaux Commandant Division Infanterie; La Veille Garde 105e Regiment d' Infantrie Ligne, 2e Brigade, 1er Division Infanterie, I Corp, AdN |

We cant have our fine Allied infantry routing into the path of the Old Guard Horse now can we? [;)] John, that code is not to my liking much either but I know John's dilemna. And we DONT want the rout code that the ACW engine has where the unit runs over another and disorders it. In the ACW engine the routed guys have a homing beacon for their own troops and I have seen a line of my Rebs disrupted as a result. Lol Bill no we can't have Old Guard Horse rout into Allied lines, makes it too easy!! [:D][;)][:p] For me its called a Handicap Advantage, Lord knows I need all the help I can get. But yes the ACW series is horrid, they disorder an entire division ready to attack!! From my experience, this is a problem endemic to the game engines, regardless of nationality. It did it with the Talonsoft games, and now seems to do it with the HPS games. If you are working on a fix for it, also take a look at those units that rout to the front and end up behind enemy lines. See if you can fix that too (except for the French of course) Ensign William Davis 23rd (Royal Welsh) Fusiliers ![]() |

Ah, yes. The ACW routing mess is worse than the Napoleonic games. I remember one Ozark battle where one of my own very small units routed into my lines, disordering several infantry and artillery units. Took me several turns to recover from that and my opponents quick attack on my disordered men. The size of the routed unit was 1 man!!!!!!!!!!! So once things got back under control and the game was in hand I ran down that cowardly SOB and shot him myself. LOL.
