A "quiet" night in the Tavern.... A rowdy party at GdD Morgan's table.... Barrettt and Eugene are well into their cups, While Nowacki tells tall tales to several wide eyed officers....

Marechale Corbin walks in and is followed by a very familliar man....

"Gents.... This man is known to you all as a former allied officer. After much thinking and drinking he has enlisted in the graetest army in Europe.... The French Army. Please welcome... "

Lieutenant Bill Peters who is assigned to

Armee du Rhin
V Corps
5ème Division
20ème légère Brigade de Cavalerie
13ème Hussar Regiment

Please welcome him....

Peters? Didn't he take the King's shilling? And then deserted to Austria? Then he disappeared into Prussia with Col. Frobisher? I say, isn't this the same louse, only with a different uniform? Summon the King's Guard and tell them we have a deserter in the Tavern. [}:)]

Actually I was an overseer of the British army for a very short time. I never took a shilling from the British while in the Prussian service. Then before Eckmuhl came out I started up the Austrian army and found that shillings were good things! [:D]

I taught all of the Austrian officers to believe that as well! You might say that the Austrians are the best Socialists in the club! [:p]

Some of you Allies may be wondering how I was able to be converted to the Dark Side of the club (according to your misguided thinking). Simply put, Bill Peterson met me on the road to Paris one day and hissed, "Guillaume, I am your son."

The rest was easy! [:D]

I hope to pair up with Mon. Peterson one of these days. A real father and son event![:p]

Hell's teeth, I haven't heard that buffoon's name mentioned in years[:D]. All that banter and nonsense used to have me in stitches back in the old days[:D]. I was just reading about him in the Jan-Feb 1999 Newsletter. In the same issue is the announcement that I was awarded the 'Order of Franz Joseph' - an Austrian medal. I can't for the life of me remember what I got it for but nobody gets it anymore, not even the Austrians.

Oh, I almost forgot, welcome back Bill! Not that you ever really went away.[:D]
