My friends! May I thank you for the great honour bestowed upon me this way! [:I]

I came a long way since enlisting in the Anglo Allied army back in February 2001, and although life had its ups and downs and I was not able to actively fight battles over the last years, it is still with pleasure that I participate in this community!

And now, while offering you all a Dutch 'kopstoot' for a drink, please enjoy an incident from the old days! Back to 13 March 2002, when life was short (on the battlefield) and the Taverns were a place of bragging and humour:

"Lt.Col. Nelms stares in astonishment at the disheveled Lt, who had just swiped his Hedonator. It was beyond belief that such a thing could happen. Hopefully the young Lt. would choke on the backwash he had deposited in the glass, but no, he tossed the drink right down. Well this wouldn't do. Slowly the enraged Lt.Col. pulled his pistol from his belt and took aim at the Lt. Fortunately, or unfortunately depending on your point of view, the Lt.Col. had not only been taught pistol shooting by Sir Waffles but the Lt. picked that moment to become horizontal. The pistol ball smashed into the keg of premade Hedonators that the barkeep had prepared, resulting in a jet of the heavenly liquid to shoot out from the barrel on to the floor. Bedlam breaks out as Lt.Col. Nelms and Sit Waffles crack heads trying to get under that life giving stream and the invectives begin.

Meanwhile the barkeep has pulled out an arquebuse that probably last saw service with Marlborough and looks for someone to shoot back at. The Dutch Lt. is thankfully unfeeling as he is trampled by Ensigns trying to fill glasses from the stream for the more senior officers possessing a little more decorum then most.

Finally order is restored. Lt.Col. Nelms and Sir Waffles both have large bumps on their heads but extremely contented looks on their faces. The ensigns are giggling like school girls over the fact that their purses were somewhat spared. Only the barkeep seemed to be upset, still swinging the arquebuse around the room demanding that someone was going to pay for that keg. In a show of unity and peace among the mess the entire group spoke as ne voice and said: 'Charge it to the 5th Division!'"

Now that were times! And the question is: who wrote this reply, and by what and whom was it provoked? Well then veterans, think!

[:D]

Best regards, Geert
