Post subject:  Battleground and Vista

I have been able to run BG Waterloo v 1.14 on my son's vista laptop. I run into trouble when I apply the 32 bit patch. The game still runs and takes me as far as launching the scenario then I get the "Cannot read scn file". The map is there, the marshall music is playing but, there are not any soldiers on the field.
I went to unistall the game and I had a warning " Cannot find CTL3D.DLL". I did a search for this file and it is not there. I checked my old computer and it is there. I was able to uninstall after acknowledging the error.
Is everybody O.K. running on 16 bit? The graphics look fine.
Can some body tell me if the 32 bit patch is looking for this file?
Can it be put on the vista system without creating a problem?
Do the people who have installed the Matrix product have this file on their computer now?

Thanks,

My understanding is that the Battleground games don't work with Vista when you apply the Tiller upgrade. Since no patch will be forthcoming for that all I can suggest is that you buy the games again from Matrix Games - they are the same games with patches and upgrade, but Vista compatible. Not a happy solution but I think the only one.

Malcolm,

Unfortunately, Andy is correct. Any Vista users wishing to play BG games would have to buy the Matrix editions. Matrix does offer all 3 plus Age of Sail as part of one package.
