Only in French and Russian, IIRC. This seems a somewhat understudied campaign in comparison. <center> [url="http://home.arcor.de/dierk_walter/NWC/2nd_Dragoons.htm"] ![]() Maj. Gen. D.S. Summerville in his recent work defers the reader to Nafziger's work on the campaign. You can find it at: http://home.fuse.net/nafziger/NAFNAP.HTM Go to his book section and scroll down to where you read: THE EYLAU-FRIEDLAND CAMPAIGN OF 1806-7 Its 19.99 which is a reasonable price for such info. Other than that you will have to read: Foucart - Campagne du Pologne Hopfner - Der Krieg von 1806 und 1807 Digby-Smith's Napoleonic Wars Data Book has scant info as far as composition of forces. Mainly brigade/division sizes at best. Its one of the least documented campaigns on record. It was one of the reasons why I did 1806 rather than this campaign. 1806 also doesnt have alot of english writing authors. Petre, Maude and Chandler's work for Osprey were about all I could get my hands on until Bill Peterson sent me some works he found. I contacted Scott Bowden about this campaign hoping that he would continue his fine Glory Years campaign series into 1806-07 but he said that he was not going to do so. I was sad to hear that as his books have a ton of good material. For Davout's Corps you can purchase: Napoleon's Finest: Davout and his 3rd Corps, Combat Journal of Operations 1805-1807. Its not cheap but it has alot of great material on this corps. You can find it at: http://www.militaryhistorypress.com/Nap ... inest.html Perhaps someone else has a cheaper price ... I also would take a peek at Pen & Sword Publishers. They have a fine listing of Napoleonic books. That is where I purchased Summeriville's work on the campaign. http://www.pen-and-sword.co.uk/ I am hoping that someday Osprey will do a book on this campaign. While not always the greatest OB info they would add another work to this campaign and usually they include an OB. <s>Al - does Arnold/Reinersten's work include Friedland and if so is there an OB for that battle? Hoping to find a cheaper price for the book.</s> Ok - its only about the Eylau portion of the campaign. Forget my question. Yes, I think it's a very understudied campaign as the Russians did give Nappy a real ride for a while until Benningsen exhausted his army marching to Friedland. I got the feeling, reading Chandler, that Napoleon at this peak was fumbling his way along until he got Davoust between the Russians and Konigsberg. I reccommend this site for the battle of Heilsberg: not one of Nappy's finest and (consequently?) not one of the ones we celebrate!: http://napoleonistyka.atspace.com/Heilsberg_battle.htm |
