I'm a little surprised this webpage hasn't been listed before, or at least I can't find a reference to it. This is a massive, well researched, online resource that covers all things Napoleonic, with detailed discussions on the organisation, weapons, uniforms and units of all major armies. It has sections on campaigns and battles, including some Orders of Battle. There's also a hugely detailed discussion on the strategy and tactics of all arms during the period. It also covers some miscellaneous topics, such as "Waterloo - The German Victory" and "Just Don't Mention the Prussians", putting forward some different views on that battle rather than the traditional British version that many of us know so well, and how Wellington actively promoted that version of the battle. Great website! and quite popular based on the number of visitors. Unfortunately they stopped updating it a few years back. There are quite a few quotes grouped together conveniently by subject – I often refer to those when comparing WDS battles flows to historical narratives. |
