Formed on 25 Feb 1813 by ObLt v. Sydow (at his own expense I might add) in Stargard, Pommerania.
Formation completed by 25 July 1813.
On 10 August the depot squadron had one officer and 61 men. The three field squadrons had 21 officers, 42 NCOs, 9 trumpeters, 72 elite troopers and 372 troopers. A total strength of 516 men.
Battle honors:
Wittstock 22 Aug
Grossbeeren 23 Aug
Skirmish at Linde (no date)
Dennewitz 6 Sept
Siege of Wittenberg 14 Sept to 4 Oct
Leipzig 18-19 October (arriving with Army of the North)
Storming of Arnhem (30 Nov)
other minor actions in 1814 in the Low Countries and France.
Disbanded 21 Feb 1815. I-II Squadrons became part of the Garde Dragoner Regiment and the III Squadron became the III/4th Uhlan Regiment (they were not named at this point).
Headwear: Black ulan shako that had green cords and flounders for parade but no plume. Normally worn with oilskin cover while on campaign.
Kollet: Dark green piped scarlet with white collar cuffs and shoulder straps (white being the Pommeranian facing color throughout the army). Green turnbacks trimmed scarlet and brass buttons. Sash: Bright green edged red Ulan girdle.
Litewka: On campaign a dark green Litewka with white collar and shoulder straps, brass buttons and a Ulan girdle. Troopers had white shoulder straps and officers had regulation epaulettes.
Legwear: Grey buttoned cavalry overalls with red stripes.
Mantel: Dark green hussar cape with white collar with red outer edge.
Equipment: Black belt with brass fittings. The cartridge pouch had no decorations on its lid. Hussar pattern pouches decorated with brass pickers and chains.
Sidearms: Carbine and hussar pattern saber. (note: did NOT carry a lance like the East Prussian NKR did - thus similar to the Elbe and Silesian National Hussar regiments in that respect)
Horse Furniture: Dark green dragoon saddlecloth with double white trim. Officers had a dark green Dragoon saddlecloth with silver trim.
Elite Company:
Headgear: shako as above but with black and white cockade with yellow cockade strap. Black and white pom pom. (usually covered on campaign with oilskin cover)
Kollet: as per above but shoulder straps were brass.
Waistcoat: Light green waistcoat beneath the Kollet with yellow hussar style braid.
Litewka: as per above but epaulettes were brass.
Equipment as per above. In other words no lances ... (some folks sometimes think that this unit had lances as the E.Prussian unit did)
