Preußische Armee Generalstaff Dispatches 2000
August | Armeeschreiber It was a slow period since the last newsletter. Some people are knee-deep in summer activities while others have defied the wrath of spouses and the sensible advice of physicians and continued indoors with their battles of the Westphalia Campaign and other battles.
Befoerderungen "It was with great honour and privilege, in the name of the Honourable Feldmarschall Michael W. Gjerde , himself a servant of our revered King, Friedrich Wilhelm III , sovereign of Prussia and protector of Germany , that the Prussian Army offered promotions to the following officers for gallantry in the face of the enemy and for furthering the glory of Prussia. God save the King and Fatherland ." Slow period for promotions, just one to report: Oberleutnant Miller to Kapitan
Gemusterte Rekruten The following men have met the call of their King to free Germany from French tyranny, in memory of their later Beloved Queen, Louisa, a declared and obstinate enemy of Napoleon. Rekrut Ariel Rosa
Prussian Westphalian Campaign: This tournament continues. No phases have been completed yet, but matches are slowly coming to a conclusion. Preliminary results so far: HH05 GdB Bardon vs. Gen Ritter v. Reuter French Major Victory - A hard fought battle to be sure, von Reuter will be back to avenge his defeat! HH12 Lt DeMello vs. Olt. Tombesi Prussian Minor Victory - Herr Tombesi continues to contribute to the glory of Prussia with victory over the French. A close fight, a mere 260 point edge to the Prussians. Well done Herr Tombesi! HH06 General Naujoks vs. Steve Peluso Prussian Major Victory - Herr Naujoks continues his mastery over the French! Meanwhile other results show a split of victories by our Allies:
Allied Coalition Tournament: The Allied Tournament has concluded with a victory for the continental side! The standings were 10 victories to 7 with two draws. The contest was a hard fought affair and our neighbors across the Channel have shown themselves to be more than worthy opponents. The Prussian Army had a highly respectable 43% participation rate by its members. Well done officers. The Prussian results were an even five victories and five defeats with one draw, proving once again Prussian officers are a force to be reckoned with. Best Regards,

Mai | Armeeschreiber The Prussian General Staff, after some intelligent and ordered discussion (did you expect any less!), came to the unanimous decision that from that moment forth, the Armeekommandeur der Preussisches Heer would automatically attain the rank of Feldmarschall even if it required a brevet promotion. The feeling was that the leader of our Army should be the highest ranking individual and that the post, with it's responsibilities to the Army, the Coalition and the Club deserved such a rank. Generalleutnant Gjerde humbly accepted the rank and the responsibilities that accompany it. The General Staff is proud and pleased with our leader and pledge to work hard with him to make this the finest army in the Club. (FM comment, they do an incredible job! Many thanks to Herren Hamper, Reuter, Naujoks, Orlando and Karlsson) For those who may have missed it, further accolades and responsibility fell to our leader who was nominated, voted and accepted as Club Prime Minister by the Parliament. Good luck with your additional post Herr Gjerde and congratulations.

Gemusterte Rekruten (Recruits) The following men have met the call of their King to free Germany from French tyranny, in memory of their later Beloved Queen, Louisa, a declared and obstinate enemy of Napoleon. Rekrut Ron Loebell
Prussian Westphalian Campaign (FM Blucher): Thanks to the tireless efforts of Jon Brewitt who designed the scenarios and Erik Ahrenkiel Frederiksen and Andreas Naujoks who organized the matches, the Prussian Army has embarked on a grand campaign to liberate the oppressed Germanic peoples of Westphalia from under the French Yoke! In the center of campaign, the Prussian Army has accepted over 20 battles against the French Armies being led by that warhorse Marshall Ney, otherwise sometimes known as Jon Brewitt himself. Results are sketchy from the front, but it is clear that these armies are well matched! The Prussian armies are being ably supported by their colleagues in arms, the Anglo-Allied armies on the right flank and combined Russian/Austrian Armies on the left flank. Late breaking news from the front! The old FM himself is reported to have captured the bravest of the brave, Marshall Ney (commanded by that French officer of too many self appointed titles Maunsell). Worth 80 points, he is! In turn 4!
Prussian Austrian Tournament (FM Blucher): News just in from the front shows the Prussian Army again triumphant on the field of battle. In a series of close matches the Prussian Army has come out on top. Another great job done on the scenarios by FZM Peters of the Austrian Army. I am sure the results may be different when these armies cross swords again in the future...the battlefields will be in Bavaria and Austria and the Austrians will be lead by Erzherzog Karl himself!
Allied Coalition Tournament (FM Blucher): Yes, Bill Peters has yet another allied tournament going. This contest pits the continental allies against their benefactors, the Anglo armies under Sir Arthur Wellesley and managed by Sir Tony Dobson. To date, the continental allies have been victorious in 5 out of 7 matches, though I know what a close run thing these are. FM Blucher himself was only able to squeak out the thinnest of margins in his battle and was surely saved by the time limit. Congratulations to all players for games well done. Best Regards, |
