Preußische Armee Generalstaff Dispatches 2011

(Prussian Army News)

Opening Statments:

The big change since our last newsletter in May 2010 is that Simone Tombesi retired as I. Armee-Korps Korpskommandeur and Oliver Kreuels has been promoted to Korpskommandeur. Oliver has been with the Armee for many years and has been involved in planning and design of it as an advisory role for a couple years as well. Simone had served as Korpskommandeur since September 2004 and has done a great job leading it over the years. We thank him for his steadfast service.

The Club has added new games for members to play, such as HistWar Les Grognards, Crown of Glory: Emperor's Edition and Commander: Napoleon at War. The Club has also experienced some growth with the closure of another Club. Sadly the Armee did not make any new gains from this.

We also lost some pretty important veteran members, most noteably our Former Generalfeldmarschall & Oberbefehlshaber der Preußischen Armee (Commander of the Prussian Army) Michael Wolf Gjerde who had come back in 2005 to serve the Armee again.

We also lost our most decoarted offizer and skilled field master, Andreas Naujoks who had been the long serving Kommandeur der 1. Infanterie-Brigade and a real voice for the Armee. In honor of him and his legacy to the Armee, hos Royal Title of Prinz von Mecklenburg-Schwerin will be retired from circulation and not be made available to anyone in the future.

The Armee also lost 7 other officers in the past year. But muster returns have been good for the Armee & we did gain some new recruits as well as have some veterans come back.

The good news is we have had some solid gaming from some of our veterans and a few new comers. A lot of promotions & Royal Titles were issued out, as well as Bi-Yearly Points for all of 2010 & the first half of 2011.

We also added some new medals into the Armee for officers to earn. We also added in the Preußische Armee Merit Rewards system
which consists of the Jäger Orden (Rifleman Order), Französisch Marschall Abschussprämie (French Maréchal Bounty) and the Königin Luise Orden (Queen Louise Order).

The French Maréchal Bounty, is a system in which various members of the French side of the Club, typically those in high commands, those who are Maréchal 's and some Générals are assigned a value of OBD points, that if an Armee officer defeats them in battle, they are awarded those OBD poinnts as a prize.

The Jäger Orden is a monthly Marksman Contest for the person who has the kill, capture or wound in a scenario with the highest points.

The Königin Luise Orden is a special medal for those who capture Napoleon in any scenario they might be playing.

Opening Statments:

The big news since May is the release of Campaign Leipzig by John Tiller Software (former HPS game designer). The game is a fantastic blend of scenarions both large, medium and small. It has a massive campaign map. The game engine has improvements too and there is a great new batch of 3D graphics being used. Our very own Bill Peters has spent almost 3 years making this game and it is one of the most researched and well thought out games he has designed. PLUS - it has our very own Preußische Armee as a main force in the game. All of our famous battles, in which the Glorious Blücher, Bülow, Gneisenau and so many others made legendary for all Prussian history! It is worth checking out and buying....

With this great news we have decided to open a new Armee-Korps. Instead of another 1815 style Korps, we went with an 1813 style Korps. I am proud to announce the opening of the 1813 Befreiungskriege (Wars of Liberation) Armee-Korps.

It is felt that this will be a great marketing tool for recruitment and will help represent the best forces of the Preußische Armee during the Napoleonic Wars. Many famous units from 1813 were chosen for the OOB, including many of the Freikorps units.

The Armee has been doing very well and many of our junior officers have been gaming a lot. This has brought many awards for them as well as Honor & Glory for Prussia. With the loss of two key members last year, the return of a few key members & the added couple new recruits shows great promise for the Armee.

The Club has started the Struggle of Nations Tournament which has been going on for the past month so far. It is expected that Round 2 will start in the summer sometime, using Leipzig.

Overall the Generalstaff is pleased with where the Armee & Club are headed.
