Preußische Armee Generalstaff Dispatches 2013
February - September - October
Armeeschreiber Opening Statments: Another year, yet another game with our Beloved Prussians! Campaign Bautzen by John Tiller Software. The game is the prelude to Campaign Leipzig and deals with the Spring 1813 Campaigns as well as the Russo-Swedish War. It is the first Napoleonics title to use naval ships & warfare. The game includes over 100 scenarios & has the classic battles of Lützen and Bautzen as well as the majority of the actions of the Russo-Swedish War of 1808-09. Scenarios anywhere from 8 to over 100 turns are included which include all of the famous units that took part in the Spring Campaign of 1813 to include most of the early war Prussian formations. All of the major formations of the Russo-Swedish War are covered that fought in Finland. The Prussian Armee is a central force of the game & fights in the unique and challenging battles that were back & forth contests between Napoleon & the Coalition and whose outcome setup the more important fall of 1813 battles that are included in Campaign Leipzig. This game, with Campaign Leipzig & Campaign 1814 offers a continuous time period of Prussian involvement in the games for every Prussian enthusiast to enjoy! Of course there is also Campaign Waterloo too, released some years ago. Our former member Bill Peters created this game, spent a lot of time researching it & again had a quality team to support him in the design. The game is a great addition to have in your collection. Officers of the Prussian Armee should take note of the number of changes on the Generalstab (General Staff). They are part of a design system we are working on to allow workflow in the Armee to go quicker, but also to allow officers to participate in the management of the Armee & get experience in leading different components & tasks of it. Each position is still being worked out in responsibilities and requirements, but it is our hope we will truly have a great "General Staff" system, much like how the Prussian Armee operated during the Napoleonic Wars. The other major news is General der Kavallerie Wilhelm Prinz Peters von Dennewitz has decided to take leave from the Armee & the Club. Real life circumstances will have him busy for quite a while. Bill has been a central member for the Armee for many years, our Commander way back in 1998 and has always been a passionate Prussian history enthusiast. I worked with him on the development of Campaign Leipzig and we enjoyed very much playing each other & I was very pleased & grew to appreciate the game making process. The amount of effort & research he puts into them and the time, care & concern that allows us to enjoy these games. He truly makes it more of a work of art & a love of the design/history that makes HPS/JTS games so endearing to many and so enduring over time. He is a huge fan of the Battle of Dennewitz and was awarded the Royal Title of Prinz von Dennewitz, which will now be retired from use. He transferred into the Prussian Armee again after having been in various armies for a number of years & it has been a pleasure having him with us. He's a good friend & I wish him much luck as he starts a new chapter in his life. He will be missed! For his many years of service he will be honored in Valhalla the Preußische Armee Ruhmeshalle (Prussian Armee Hall of Glory). Three cheers for the Prinz von Dennewitz! Other than this sad news, gaming & awards earned by Prussian Armee officers continues to grow & we continue to be at the forefront of the Club! Gemusterte Rekruten I am glad to announce a new officer. Sekondlieutenant Ron Virts. He has taken up the post in the Thüringische Batallion - 1. Armeeschreiber Opening Statments: Since the last Newsletter in February there have been some significant changes to the Club & the Prussian Armee. The major Prussian Armee announcements are that Our Beloved & Longtime Serving Oberbefehlshaber der Preußische Armee (Commander of the Prussian Army) Generalfeldmarschall Stefan GroßPrinz Reuter von Wahlstadt the longest continuous serving Army Commander in the Club, for over 11 years, had gone missing last year & attempts to contact him have returned unsuccessful. It was announced in January that the Generalstab had setup a Succession of Command Agreement and that per this forum notice here, that Generalmajor Ian Herzog Hames von Falkenberg had been appointed the Interim Oberbefehlshaber der Preußische Armee (Interim Commander of the Prussian Army). This past June, it was announced per this forum notice here, that Generalmajor Ian Herzog Hames von Falkenberg was made the permanent Oberbefehlshaber der Preußische Armee (Commander of the Prussian Army). He has also assumed the command position of the Commander of the Combined Austro-Prussian-Swedish Army. It had been decided that Stefan would be replaced with someone on an interim status until further notice & decision is made on the status of Stefan. That decision was made in June, as noted above. This is truly a sad time for us. Stefan has been a central leader of the Prussian Armee & the Club for a very, very longtime & under his steady hand & leadership the Prussians have enjoyed almost uninterrupted & continuous leadership, which has been a cut above the other armies of the Club. Stefan provided many great services, from training generations of new Armee officers, to Armee maneuvers, to doing this very newsletter for many years and a lot of other things too. He also gave me, my own chance at leadership in the Armee and I have been forever thankful to him for it. The sky was the limit under his leadership & the Armee really came into its own. Ian is the longest serving member of the Armee. He came to the Club just shortly after it was formed and has never left. He has a keen interest in Prussian history, is involved in gaming and proactive in communications. It is felt he will make a good Army Commander, leading the Prussian Armee into the next chapter of Armee history. Ian will be only the fourth Commander of the Prussian Armee since the Club was founded. A testament to the leadership and dedication of the Prussian Command and the Prussian system. The other major news is that I, Generalfeldmarschall Scott Kronprinz "Vorwärts" Ludwig von Preußen, who has served the Armee as the Generalquartiermeister der Preußische Armee (General-Quartermaster of the Prussian Army) will be resigning from the Armee & the Club and all my commands. For personal & time related reasons I have decided to step away and this will be my final newsletter, for now. Earlier this year I had stepped back as the Commander of the Combined Austro-Prussian-Swedish Army giving it to Ian & have been slowly handing over the website to him too. I came to the Prussian Armee in January of 2004 & in January 2007 was made the Generalquartiermeister. Generallieutenant David GroßHerzog Stotsenburgh von Insterburg will replace me as the Generalquartiermeister der Preußische Armee (General-Quartermaster of the Prussian Army). The Generalstab has voted earlier this year to award me the rank of Generalfeldmarschall for life, regardless of who is the Oberbefehlshaber, which is normally the only person who can hold the rank. I am very honored by their approval of this. Stefan & I will be honored in Valhalla the Preußische Armee Ruhmeshalle (Prussian Armee Hall of Glory). I have enjoyed very much serving the Armee & the Club and doing all the administrative work for the Armee for some time. It has given me great pride to see all of the officers of the Armee enjoying what we have done here and moving up the ranks & earning awards & honors. Those are my happiest times, as a leader, when I get to make a forum announcement about one of our officers getting a new rank or award. I have enjoyed the support of many current & former Armee officers & also wider Club members & leader. I thank you all for this & the chance to serve you all for so long! I ask that everyone continue to do their best, have fun & give your support to the new leaders, the way you have given it to Stefan & I for so many years. It has been a true honor to serve you all & I hope one day to come back again to be a member of this fine Armee! Gemusterte Rekruten I am glad to announce a new officer. Sekondlieutenant Alessandro Demichelis has joined the Armee. He has been posted to the 1. Husaren-Regiment (Brandenburgisches) - 1. Infanterie-Brigade - I. Armee-Korps.
I am glad to announce a new officer. Sekondlieutenant Ken Fortune has joined the Armee. He has been posted to the Kommandeur der Prinz von Mecklenburg-Schwerin Nationalbrigade - 1813 Befreiungskriege (Wars of Liberation) Armee-Korps. Muster: No muster was held recently. Verleihung von Auszeichnungen The following officers have been awarded medals for their service to the Prussian Armee: Clifton Seeney awarded the Eisernes Kreuz zur Fahnenspitze (Iron Cross of the Flag) Clifton Seeney awarded the Militärische Medaille (Military Medal) Clifton Seeney and Dave Stotsenburgh awarded the Militärische Verdienstmedaille (Military Merit Medal) Clifton Seeney, Zach Bogue and Thomas Whitefield awarded the Kriegerverdienstmedaille (Warrior Merit Medal) Michael Fredel and Clifton Seeney awarded the Katzbach von 1813 Medaille Michael Fredel and Martin Huschka awarded the Alder Haus-Orden (Eagle House Order) Thomas Whitfield and Scott Ludwig awarded the Befreiungsorden des Vaterlands 1813 Medaille (1813 Wars of Liberation Medal) Dave Stotsenburgh awarded the Waterloo von 1815 Medaille (1815 Waterloo Medal) Stefan Reuter awarded the Orden das Schwarzen Adler GroßKommandeur Stern (Order of the Black Eagle Grand Commander Star) Scott Ludwig awarded the Orden das Schwarzen Adler Kommandeur Stern (Order of the Black Eagle Commander Star) Stefan Reuter and Scott Ludwig awarded the Orden das Schwarzen Adler (Order of the Black Eagle) Stefan Reuter and Scott Ludwig awarded the Pour le Mérite (With Oak Leaves) Clifton Seeney and Phil Chimara awarded the Pour le Mérite Scott Ludwig awarded the Groß Kreuz (Iron Cross Grand Cross) Clifton Seeney, Martin Huschka, Phil Chimara and Rob Hamper awarded the Eisernes Kreuz 1. Report October 2013.
The below was not published by any member of the Prussian Armee and instead written by the Allied Coalition Commander in Chief (CiC) who was overseeing the Prussians at the time.
A new acting command is installed. The two Anglo Allied officers Andy Moss and Mike Friedman will manage the army for as long as needed. Or for as long as there is no other team from the Prussian army itself available. They will try to attract more officers and create an esprit du corps. New commanders mean new ideas and leadership practices. Thus some changes will be made to the websites and the OOB. But nevertheless we will hardly touch the work of the former commanders and the huge amount of information they stationed at the website. We also need to respect the culture and traditions of the Prussian army. Beside a few minor changes the following changes are made: 1. A new acting command is installed as mentioned above. They are listed under ‘armee staff’. 2. Various officers are and will be placed in the Valhalla. We are still working on that. 3. Under ‘Prussian Ranks’ you will now only find the ranks (which are not changed); 4. Under ‘Prussian Armee officer battle record” you will find a newly created automatic DOR page where you can see your points etc. 5. Under the Kon. Prussian Armee you will find the OOB as usual, but in a reduced form. All the pages are still there, but are separated in active and non-active. Non active units maybe opened up again in the future.
We have kept active the Garde-Grenadiers ( of course), the I Korps and the LW (as reserves). We needed to choose between the I korps and the 1813 War korps. We have selected the famous I korps to stay, with in the back of our mind the 200 years anniversary of Waterloo in 2015. And thus potential interest. The Garde Grenadiers are also separated in an active and non-active parts. Active parts are the 1st inf brigade and the Garde Grenadier Kavallerie Brigade. With regards to I korps the same story, active are the 1&2 inf brigade and the 1st Cav brigade. The remaining units are non-active for the moment. That means that all officers had to be listed in the I Korps. And some relocation was needed: Transfers in Garde-Grenadier units: Generallieutenant Ian Hames ----> Garde Fuselier bat, 1st regiment General der Infanterie Ludwig Schmidt ---> 1 Westpreussisches Gren Bat., 1st regiment Generallieutenant Ian Hames ---> Kommandeur 1st Garde Regiment No further changes made.
Inf. Officers transferred to I korps or to other positions in I korps General der Infanterie Martin Huschka ---> 12 th Reg Inf, 1st brigade Oberst Kirk Hutzel ---> 24th Reg Inf, 1st Brigade Premierlieutenant Ron Virts---> 1st Westfalisches LW Premierlieutenant Ken Fortune ---> Kommandeur 2nd Inf brigade Ian Hames ---> 28th Inf Reg Oberst Harold Lajoie ---> 2nd brigade arty detachment.
Kavallerie officers General der Kavallerie Robert Hamper ---> Kommandeur 1st Kav. brigade General der Infanterie Michael Fredel ---> 5th dragoons, 1st Kav brigade General der Kavallerie Clifton Seeney ---> General Dumas' Haitianer Freikorps Kavallerie-Regiment, now under 1st Kav. Brigade.
Scott Ludwig---> to the Landwehr reserve and the Valhalla. The DOR system and webpages are brought in line with the above changes. Please do not forget to adjust your forum signature if you use any.
Signed, Generaal Marco Bijl Allied Coalition Commander in Chief (CiC) Prussian Administrator |
