Hi, Mark, Worked for me. I have Vista, and I had to browse to get it in the right folder. If you just download, it will put it under program files. To get my games to work right under Vista, I had to create an HPS folder outside the program files. That means I had to change the download destination ...

Hi, Al, Sounds like a topic for the lawyers. If after the Declaration of Independence, the colonies had lost, would they ever have been independent? I have read that there was some significance to Lincoln declaring a blockade, and that the US government was unable to exercise the functions of governm...

I notice that the new patch does ADF by stack rather than individual unit. It does make the defensive fire go quickly, and the massed fire packs a hefty punch. The problem I see is that it sees to concentrate all the fire from the stack on the same unit. I don't know how it decides which unit to fir...

Hi, General,

As far as I know, you can still do it. If you can't, can you provide details as to which module you are using? I was just able to do it in patched Atlanta, both by overrun during movement and by melee. I used phases, by the way.

Hi, Rich,

I always thought that the pdt was such that if five napoleons had a 50% chance of a hit at a given range, a single napoleon would have a 10% chance of a hit and a two-gun section a 20% chance. If that is not so, why not?

Hi, Ernie, I guess if nobody ever discussed these things we would still be playing the original Talonsoft games. In fact, I believe many still are, but I consider the current generation of HPS games to be greatly superior. I think a number of improvements have been added in the form of options based...

Hi, Ned, For manmade hexside defenses, one side is always protected and one side is never protected. This includes breastworks and embankments. You can tell which side is the protected side for embankments by right clicking on the terrain symbol to the upper left of the screen. If it says "embankmen...

Hi, Not that I know of. We have discussed partial resupply and combining depleted supply wagons in a previous thread, but unless and until the HPS folks take an interest, there will be no improvement in the supply system. At least in the Peninsula you usually have enough ammo to finish the battle. M...

Hi, General,

You are right about the procedure. Just wanted to point out that all the adjacent units in a stack can attack the bridge; they just have to do it one melee at a time.

Hi, Ross, I can understand Lee being cautious. -2/3 0f his corps commanders and 1/3 of his division commanders were new to their posts. -He had to find out the union army was on his heels from Longstreet's spy instead of his cavalry. -He gave instructions to avoid an engagement. We all know how that...

Hi, Rich, Kelly Ross and I ran into a problem with the Atlanta patch. It was in a game that we started before the patch, so that may be part of the problem. It is phased play, so that also may be part of the problem. I sent the problem to Rich Hamilton. The problem is that the program sticks at the ...
