Hi, General, Good questions. The actual modifier percentages are in parameter data. Hexside features like walls and fences affect melee. As near as I can tell, terrain type doesn't. Uphill is a modifier. The rules say that the largest hexside modifier for the hex applies for melee. If you have a que... |

Hi, General, Parameter data for Fredricksburg give a max bridge strength of 500. The bridges on the map are all 300. You have to set troops to repairing them to make them strong enough to carry a wagon. Don't know if they have to be full strength to carry a wagon, but it is certainly more than infan... |

Col Blair, Don't feel bad. General John Hunt Morgan lost most of two brigades of fine Kentucky cavalry north of the Ohio River in July 1863, along with himself. And don't make solemn declarations that limit your options. There may come a time when you have to sacrifice a cavalry regiment for the goo... |

I think Freeman wrote the books in the 40s, when there were still a few veterans still living. I read the three-volume work back in the 70's. It is probably the best command analysis I have ever read of any army, any time, anywhere. I would check out the reviews at Amazon.com though to see what othe... |

I can't think of much more that needs to be done. The Shenandoah campaigns, of course. Grant's Overland campaign. The Petersburg siege. Louisiana and Arkansas 1862-1864. Maybe Sherman's March and Carolinas. That leaves a few small battles not covered, but those could be done on Corinth I. I agree wi... |

I think there is an entry in the parameter data that gives the chance to entrench. I also thought they had made it more likely for larger units to entrench, but can't find it anywhere. I'm not at home right now so I can't double check on that. I liked the old SSI system better where you entrenched f... |

Hi, General, I believe the program already assesses the 25% penalty in dismounted fire and melee for cavalry. I played the Murfreesboro scenario just once, and the Confederates do have a lot of cavalry, but I found this not to be advantageous as the battle is fought mostly in wooded terrain. The 3-v... |

Hi, Ross, I am against limiting disrupted units any more than they are. In fact, if it were up to me, I would allow disrupted units to melee at half strength like in the Napoleonics. Wouldn't have as much of a problem limiting high fatigue units though. I still think even that would lead to gamey ta... |

Hi, I have mentioned this in a post under Rich Walker's "New Rule" proposal. My suggestion was create a separate "Rout" phase at the beginning of the player turn where the phasing player could voluntarily rout units. Then he could indicate the general direction he wanted his units to rout in, whethe... |
