No, no, NO! Enough of this tweaking and fiddling and beggaring about with this, that and the other. I am sure we will disappear up our own backsides soon if we continue with our insatiable pursuit of..."more realism". If we go down the road of factoring into the game such arguable traits as 'quality...

1. 3D 2. 100+ turns. Historical 3-day Gettysburg. 3. Single phase if possible, multi-phase only if my opponent insists. Say: 80/20% 4. 3 or 4 normally. 5. No, only once so far. 6. Usually play with all options on. Recently started turning 'rout-limiting' off. Sometimes turn off the quality fire & me...

Aah, Bill! Glad to catch you here. That bull Run mirrormatch we're playing currently? Remind me again: WHAT COLOUR UNIFORMS ARE MY BOYS WEARING THIS TIME? and p.s: When it asks for 'Rebel encryption'......is that ME or YOU?! [:p][:0] Lt.Col. Jim Wilkes. 2nd Brigade, Cavalry Division, XX Corps. AoC. ...

Single turn play for me. I will still play multi phase games if my opponent insists, but my aversion to that style of play is now just as strong as that of the enemies of single turn play. I 'learnt my trade' on the phased based play of the old BG games, but when I have to revert to phased play on t...

So what about the Infantry used to re-crew a battery during a game? do these men count as 'losses'? It seems pointless using up 150 men to re-crew a 6 gun battery (only to 'F' quality anyway) that would reappear in the next scenario of the campaign anyway. The men aren't casualties and should come b...

If an Artillery unit suffers a 'crew killed' result due to enemy fire, does that unit return re-crewed in the next phase of the campaign? (like captured artillery does at present) If I use a friendly Infantry unit to re-crew a Battery, do the men used to re-crew count as 'losses'? or will I get them...

I've made a simple 'flip-flop' conversion of the HPS Gettysburg historical 3-day battle. The Union come in from the North and the Rebs from the South. Can the Union win a great victory if the Rebs have the high ground? Anyone fancy a look at it and a chance to rewrite history? Lt.Col. Jim Wilkes. 2n...

I've just started messing around with the HPS Gettysburg Scenario Editor. I'm going to make a 'flip-flop' of the 3-day battle with the Union coming in from the North and the Rebs from the South. I don't think anyone has made one already? I'd like to have a go at the situation from the other side, bu...

The HPS Antietam scenario #002 Historical 1st Bull Run is the best example I can find of the problems with Artillery organisation in the game. I'm surprised the designers didn't see the conflict of having the units represented unevenly? Both sides field a real mixed bag with single guns, 2 & 3 gun s...

I can't believe we are still arguing over the details of command ratings & range when the scenario itself is so obviously stacked in favour of the Rebs! I concede that the victory conditions may need 'tweaking' to make what happens on the field more fairly represented in the results table, but tabli...

Are there any tutorials covering the brdge limit and repair feature? I just started a Corinth campaign and wondered if there is any benefit to my blasting the hell out of bridges with Artillery to deny them to my enemy. It doesn't seem very realistic in some ways, but if I can knobble the bridges it...

There are not many, if any, 'cheats' to be found in the game engine but I have found one I think, although it doesn't promise to be much more than a novelty in practice. Move your mounted leader to the limit of his allowance, 24 movement points, and you often find that he has 1 point left over? not ...

I read this and had to rush off to investigate the situation myself. I must disagree with the original statement that the Reb Artillery is exposed or vulnerable. I set about this scenario playing both sides to see what can be achieved. True enough, Schimmelfennigs Brigade of 3 Regiments can advance ...

I just realised that of all the acw games I own, I have never played anything on HPS Corinth other than my training on it. I would like to have a go at a Campaign as I've always thought it looks one of the best balanced efforts of the whole lot... Send couriers gentlemen... Lt.Col. Jim Wilkes. 2nd B...
