I had the honour to complete my training under Gen. Miller's instruction when I first joined the club in the early 2000's. His lessons are still with me as I play today. I wish I could have honoured him by winning more victories during my career. I salute you Sir! Lt.Col. Jim Wilkes. 2nd Brigade, Ca...

My opponent and I are becoming very muddled over the exchange of game turns in an HPS campaign Peninsula game. I cannot explain clearly to my opponent what I think the problem is exactly. There are 3 game files for the campaign game I believe? .btc .bto and .cpf files I believe it is the .cpf file t...

Well, who would have thought it possible? I've taken on board some of the advice thrown at me recently (thanks to everyone) and have managed to take a minor victory in a weather variant of this battle. The weather was a major factor in the way the scenario played out, it started raining just as my o...

Yes, I like the sound of an optional rule to hide all victory information. Funny nobody has ever thought of it before. It would add to the fog-of-war and surely wouldn't be too much work to implement?

Has a Union player EVER won any of the Cedar Mountain scenarios on HPS Campaign Antietam? In my experience, the situation is inherently flawed, unbalanced and unwinnable for the Union side. I have made a point of trying to play this one against different rebel opponents and each time the result is t...

Gentlemen, I've retreated to my tent in the foulest of moods over my fortunes on the field of battle[:(!]. I've taken solace in my supply of strong liquor[;)] and have wallowed in a mire of self pity for long enough[:(][xx(]. My adc has thrown a bucket of cold water over me![:0]...and I return to th...

I've just thrown in the towel in a number of games I had going with a few different opponents. I was getting my backside kicked in all of them ( as usual ) but I've finally come to the end of my patience regarding what i think is the unfairness of the HPS game engine. I would like to ask about a sit...

You're quite right, although I normally delight in any discomfort suffered by a Reb!. I had a similar experience at 1st Bull Run with the Division of Miles attacked late in the game by reb forces which could pick off fixed Regiments and batterys one by one, the balance of the Division remaining fixe...

The Rebs ability to melee my line, reorder his high quality units and melee me again on the following turn has always been my biggest fear when playing. I would like to see more strict controls on the ability of units to melee, some kind of system to represent real physical fatigue. Say a unit can m...

At last, I managed to find an audio cd of the soundtrack to the film 'Glory'. I got hold of it on e-bay. I used a free download tool to convert all the tracks into .wav format and have replaced the original music files. The results are very...satisfying. I hope this stirring music from a great film ...

I'll throw this in if you do struggle with French unit designations? though I'm no expert sadly... B.C.P is the acronym for Battalion a Chasseurs a Pied which basically translates to Foot Hunter Battalion (sic) the French Equivalent of contemporary German Jager, British L...

I've found this... http://www.military-photos.com/ob.htm I hope it is what you are looking for? It seems to be part of a larger site all about the French Army from the mid 1800's up to the First World War. It seems to be available only in the French language, which may present problems in trying to ...
