I have to agree that the advantage of the column in assaulting entrenchments is speed and maneuver. The columns can converge on the point of attack and avoid some of the defensive fire. The melee can occur in the same turn. Changing into line formations, moving to the point of attack, and initiating... |

Assault columns should be allowed in Overland as long as they are being used to assault entrenchments (trenches). The use of column formations in this way is historically accurate -- although the frontage of the assault columns were much wider, the game engine does not accommodate the assault column... |

Why thank you, sir. We did try to balance the numerical advantage of the Union forces with scenarios that featured smaller battles where the Rebels are not overmatched and even have an advantage. I play Overland almost exclusively ... but I do have a bias. |

I just finished the novel "The Black Flower" by Howard Bahr published in 1960. The action is centered around the Battle of Franklin, TN in November 1864. Its a very good "inside your head" account of men facing battle. I won't give away the plot but there is a some romance mixed ... |

Has anyone noticed that with the new OOB, the wagons look like infantry and the artillery too? This applies to multiple scenarios across campaigns. |

Anyone willing to try the Cavalry Campaign in Overland? Its just a sequential set of historical scenarios that occurred throughout the campaign.
