Not sure if it was started with the club in '97 but the UMA was called West Point when I joined in '99, don't recall when the name was changed. |

That's what the manuals makes clear, "whenever any gunboat regardless of side enters a torpedo hex there is a chance it hits the torpedo and is sunk." |

There was some discussions during testing whether to refer to them as mines or torpedoes. Eventually John Ferry wanted them called Torpedoes in reference to Farragut's famous quote “Damn the torpedoes, Full speed ahead!”. Seems I did not make the manual headings match, the Editor Manual calls them T... |

Something to consider, in addition to the historical battles in Tennessee and What If's based on them Chickamauga has several What If meeting engagements with fairly equal forces. |

Semper Fi Ernie,
I've only had 51 Marine Corps birthdays. Then again unlike you I only did 3 in uniform.
My wife even wishes me a happy birthday on Nov. 10. |

I lean more to the simulation side of wargaming. My choice of Optional Rules reflect this. As to House Rules other than the Club Rules I only have these two and provide my explanations for their use. No infantry column attacks except at bridges/fords or from the first hex after crossing. There simpl... |

Wow! Don't think I have seen an analysis this comprehensive since the Tavern was opened! Mike, I recall seeing similar articles on the old board games in the AH General, so called best set ups and first moves. There wasn't much talk about fire in the BG games because it was all phase mode and Moral... |

There are a number of people who play the Battleground games, they were the only game played here when I joined in 1999. I picked up the Matrix versions myself when I switched to Win 7 as there were still a number of members playing them, they work fine under Win 10. I also have an extensive library... |

This reminds me of the first attempt at close order drill by my platoon at PI. Our DI got so mad he halted us and just gave the command mob forward and led us back to the barracks instead of marching, we were getting stared at by the other recruits as we left the parade field. We had a health... |

In some cases this is difficult to relate to, at the time of the Civil War a lot of the woods now on the battlefields were not only much smaller but they had a lot less undergrowth. I recall the first time I took the wife to Gettysburg in 1976 and was telling her how the artillery was firing on the ... |

Whenever someone would say "if" when we were discussing anything a dearly missed friend would say, "If'n you had a blue arse you could join the circus." |
