Hi, Your idea has historical merit. I read at Gettysburg a lot of I Corps regiments were down to company size after the first day, but doubled in size after the battle. I guess the problem is what timeframe did it take for soldiers to rejoin their units. Then would elite units lose fewer stragglers ...

1. Generally, do you play in 2D or 3D? 2D 2. What's the longest battle you've fought, in turns? 130+-Beaver Dam to Malvern Hill 3. Do you play in single phase, or multi-phases? Answer as a percentage for each. 90% multiphase 4. How many ACW games do you usually have going at once? Varies-prefer 2-3,...

At the Matrix forum there are some AARs that have screenshots. The best one there I thought was the one between Joel Billings and Jon Pyle, but others are pretty good too.

Normally I will melee the bridge. The Rebs certainly seldom have enough artillery ammo to waste shells on it. When Corinth first came out you couldn't rebuild bridges, so the Yanks in one scenario simply blew the bridge, leaving the Mississippi Militia even more useless than usual on the wrong side ...

Kelly Ross is the officer I have found to be the most challenging of my opponents. He probably taught me more about tactics in these games than anyone I know.

Wow! I'm impressed by all the research that went into these arguments. Haven't had time to play this one yet, let alone analyze it. I have noticed that at least in the HPS version Cocke's two regiments aren't left as sacrificial lambs on the wrong side of the creek, like they were in the BG version....

Historically accurate beginning, except I don't recall if Heintzelman was wounded at Manassas. Robert Garnett was the first general to die, though, and it was in W Va.

Twenty years ago the old SSI games had march fatigue. You also got fatigue digging in and could forced march at a fixed cost in fatigue. The whole system operated on the basis of action points, sort of like the PzC games, and leadership played a huge role in how many action points you got, from 6 to...

The New York Times has a very interesting article on the reopening of the Gettysburg Cyclorama after a hiatus of five years. It will open 26 September. Here is a link to the article. You might have to sign up to read it, but it is free. http://www.nytimes.com/2008/07/07/arts/design/07cycl.html?pagew...
