A group of five members of the VIII Corps, AoS, is currently taking on a collection of four Rebel gentlemen in a Gettysburg campaign. This is actually our second go - we went through abbreviated Brandy Station and Rappahannock matches in the previous outing, at which point our opponents found it nec... |

I like campaigns very much, because they require you to think about the next battle. The world doesn't end at sundown. Have completed 3 Corinth campaigns, 3 Ozark campaigns. Coming up on third match of my first Franklin. Never gotten past about turn 20 of a G'burg campaign, just started another in h... |

I've not served under a finer officer than Gen. Walter. The time and energy he has devoted to the AoS, the War College, and the Club in general are truly outstanding. I've got a fine new pilsner, named the "Blue Blitz", in his honor, to share with all on hand here. Lt. Gen. Matt Perrenod The Blue... |

I think Gen. Mihalik makes an important point about victory hexes representing strategic value. Controlling Gettysburg was important, because the side that did so would have considerably more maneuver options than the other. That meant holding Cemetary Hill, which controls the town. That said, some ... |

I tried the link to get Rich's Things Heat Up scenario, but the site appears to be password-protected. Little help, please.

I've been playing Day 2 at Getty and was surprised to find Gen. Wright arriving without his brigade, but about the same time as McLaws. It took me a while to realize his brigade was already there![:0]

Joe -
Did you mean "Killer Angels"? Or is this a pun whose meaning has slipped past me?

Thanks for running the test, Harold. It confirms my own subjective impression that it takes smaller units significantly longer to build breastworks than larger ones. BTW, any relation to the baseball great? Lt. Gen. Matt Perrenod The Blue Ghost VIII Corps, Army of the Shenandoah |

Interesting post, Gene. What's the source of the story of Rosecrans/Garfield? BTW, from a gaming perspective, I don't think you're better off to be rid of either Bragg or Rosecrans. If memory serves, both have a C command rating, most of their subordinates aren't better, and you end of with Col. Ano... |

I have never seen Col. Anonymous promoted above brigade command. In fact, I think it can't happen - if there are no named officers left, the divisional command is left vacant. I've often thought that in the campaign format, that there should be a general means to replace a lost officer with a named ... |

I agree with DW about the challenge of working with what you've got. I was assigned Howard in another MP (BG Gettysburg), and was quite pleased with how the men performed, though I still lost quite a few of them in a fighting retreat back to the fishhook. I think I managed to drive one of our oppone... |

It is with regret that I have tendered my resignation from the Cabinet. I have not been able to contribute at the level that I expected, and life situations, both domestic and job, promise to limit my ability to fulfill duties even further. I expect to continue to remain active in the Club and serve... |
