I agree there is much more intelligence available than was historically the case, but in the framework of the game I don't think it is a major problem. I think the ultimate solution, as I have stated in the past, is preplotted simultaneous movement/fire, but I realize that is much more complicated t...

Column melee has been discussed more than once in this forum. The consensus seems to be that column formation in the context of the game represents a road column as opposed to an assault column as described by General Blackburn, and as such, there ought to be a house rule prohibiting its use except ...

Hi, Colonel, Supply source was an innovation introduced in Corinth, so that if the Rebs surrounded Corrinth the whole garrison wouldn't be isolated. As long as a Union unit can trace a path free of Reb units or zoc back to the supply source or a board edge, they aren't isolated. VPs and supply sourc...

Hi, Colonel, All supply sources are good for is to prevent isolation. After a lifetime of study I have come to believe that isolation is inappropriate for the short duration battles we have and no longer use it, thereby rendering the supply source redundant. But if you use the isolation rule, I beli...

Historically, units were detached to protect the wagons. Often, these units were substantial. One reason Pickett's Division wasn't available on the second day at Gettysburg was train guard duty. And one of Pemberton's largest brigades at Champion's Hill never got engaged because they were guarding t...

From what I have read wagons were usually destroyed by setting them on fire. After Brice's Crossroads, when Forrest came upon some burning wagons, he would say to his men, "Put those fires out. Why are you letting the Yankees burn my wagons?" probably not ammo wagons, I hope. Also when Wheeler captu...

Hi,

Only way I know is get in the scenario editor and remove all objective hexes. Be sure to save under a different name or you might have to change it back. Essentially, it will be a separate scenario.

Hi, General, My guess is that somebody knows quite a lot about the Spanish civil War. In fact, there are probably veterans still alive who could be interviewed. I imagine there is a wide diversity in the people who play these games. Some know about as much about ACW or napoleonic operations as you a...

My understanding of what happened to captured artillery is that the ornance folks of the winning side collected the guns after the battle. This probably included damaged guns that could be repaired. On the Confederate side, the captured guns were issued to batteries that were missing guns. Seems tha...

Hi, These are questions there ought to be answers to somewhere, but aren't. Here are my observations. 1)In the single phase game, the morale check apparatus is activated with each volley, so there would be four checks. I infer this because I have observed moving units disrupt from defensive fire bef...

As a long-time proponent of a captured artillery rule, I acknowledge this one has flaws. It isn't quite what I envisioned, but I believe it is better than the original situation where the guns go poof as soon as they are captured. To my knowledge, that never happened, but instances of guns being cap...

Hi, Al,

Thanks for finding this. I use Stewart Sifakis' compendiums, but this could be a useful cross-reference.

Hi, Colonel, In the settings bar at the top of the screen deselect "on map results. Then every time a unit fires a results box will appear, and will remain until you click it off. That way you can examine the result as long as you like. You can select or deselect any time during the game. Both displ...
