I was a heavy supporter of this and indeed the cabinet made that ruling.

Rich here, and some other guys really have some cool ideas on simultanious movement. What I am still wondering is the difficulties doing this in a design sense. I imagine that a lot of designs are doable because they are predicated on games previosly done ie, HPS Gettysburg still uses the bones of B... |

We are seeing some interesting suggestions on different threads but Col. White was talking about mutual movement and I got to thinking (oh oh)[:)] are we tethered to old board games? We have two factors-the design of the games and the computerization of the games. I think it is amazing that we have ... |

Really have to agree with Dirk. Occasionally at BGG I meet an ace and get crushed and it all seems un Civil War like. On rare occasion I find a young shavetail and do the same to him. But, between even opponents it sure feels like a Civil War battle to me and amazingly it often follows the actual ba... |

David/Ross
I have considered this but since the orders are so limited I dont know if it would have much affect but just for fun I might put it in.

Drew-for those of us too lazy to wade through the testing: anecdotes is all we got[:I] Having said that- I still dont understand the preoccupation with putting guns on the front lines. I am not a great Historian but I just dont have the feeling that this was such a common occurance. I think they sou... |

The HPS GB kills vis a vis Arty vs Infantry "feels" right to me. When guys are only killing 3-4 a 10 or 11 wack is big. Arty does hit harder. As to their vernability to melee-absolutley!! However, by keeping them back ( even 2 or 3 hexes) makes them rather hard to melee and their increased maneuverb... |

Well now-its 10 am day 2. What a hoot!! Already 35,000 casualties!! Don got the early lead by buthering my scouting Cavalry. He then pulled back in an arc with II Corp to the North, and the rest of the army to the Northwest and West behind McPhersons ridge.Because I was way behind I was forced to at... |

Ken I have been looking for a mirror match Historical 3 Day battle. By phased I am thinking you mean like the BGG system without the opportunity fire? Anyways I am still a novice at the HPS system but I do have a couple notches on my belt in the BG system so there is hope in Mudsville. Drop me a lin... |

Don
I was going to do an after action rather than a post as you go for the reasons you mentioned. As to individual threads-that would be a hoot but certainly up to each commander.

We are starting soon!! The Reb Supreme commander is General David Mallory while General John Corbin will lead the Yanks. Due to the nature of this battle in actuality each commander is both commander and subordinate due to his being at the mercy of the moves done by his fellow leaders!! In that sens... |

I think the Historical background for this experiment lies in my belief that Generals Reynolds, Heth and Rodes had perhaps as much to do with a battle being fought at Gettysburg as Meade and Lee.Things take on a will of their own and each commander must do what he can to prevail both strategically a... |

Ross The Southern cause takes a leap forward!! Welcome aboard!! My agenda here is to have each player to be the commander.By only playing every third turn you will get the feeling of what it must be like to put up with subordinants who may not share your vision.Great leaders will be undermined by po... |
